Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls – MLS, October 24, 2020
The Red Bulls continued their revival under new head coach Gerhard Struber by extending their unbeaten streak to three games with a draw against Orlando City on Sunday.
Struber’s men will be hoping to extend their impressive run when they visit Soldier Field on Saturday, October 24, although Chicago has only lost one of their previous six outings.
With the Fire just five points the Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference, this is destined to be a tasty matchup. You can find my Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls prediction and betting pick below.
Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls Odds
We may be entering Week 20 of the 2020 MLS campaign, but these two sides are yet to face each other this season. Chicago (1.90) heads into Saturday’s clash as the home favorite, but you’d be foolish to write off the Red Bulls (3.60).
With both teams enjoying a recent upturn in form, I like the look of the odds for the draw (3.80).
Sporting Kansas City ended Chicago’s three-game unbeaten streak earlier in the month, but the Fire got their revenge over the Wizards last time out. SKC appeared to be heading for victory on Saturday, but a late Dorde Mihailovic equalizer earned the Fire a dramatic draw in stoppage time.
Robert Beric also got on the scoresheet last weekend, meaning the Slovenian forward has now netted six goals in Chicago’s last eight games. Only five teams in the Eastern Conference have scored more goals than Raphael Wicky’s men this year, and that is thanks in large part to Beric’s recent efforts.
After thrashing Houston Dynamo 4-0 at the end of September, the Fire beat Atlanta United 2-0. And following a 2-1 victory over DC United a fortnight ago, Wicky’s men have thrust themselves into contention for a play-off place.

On the topic of play-off places, the Red Bulls are right back in the mix for a top-six finish. The New York club lost three times in five games across late September and early October, but since the arrival of Struber, the team has picked up a number of impressive results.
The Red Bulls beat Atlanta a fortnight ago before securing a couple of commendable draws against two of the top teams in the division. Not many sides have prevented Toronto FC and Orlando City from winning this season, but Struber’s men managed to hold both teams in the space of five days.
17-year-old Caden Clark has been the star of the show recently, scoring in his first two MLS appearances. But it was Brian White who stole the headlines last weekend. White netted a stoppage-time strike to earn the Red Bulls a valuable point against Orlando, so the team will carry momentum to Soldier Field.
Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls Betting Pick
New York Red Bulls to Win3.60
The Red Bulls have really upped their game in recent weeks. Their three-game unbeaten streak has seen them avoid defeat against two of the strongest sides in the Eastern Conference, with a victory over Atlanta also coming in that time.
Granted, Chicago has also been playing some eye-catching soccer latey. But after drawing with Toronto and Orlando, I’m expecting the Red Bulls to find it a lot easier to claim all three points against the Fire.
