The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will wrap up the 2020 regular season with an H2H three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field.

They opened it Friday night, and I’m bringing you the best Cubs vs. White Sox betting pick for the middle contest on Saturday with the first pitch at 7:10 PM ET.

Both teams have already clinched the postseason berths, but they are still battling for the seeds, so let’s see what can we expect Saturday from the Cubs and ChiSox.

Cubs vs. White Sox Odds

Cubs +1.5 -150
White Sox -1.5 +135
Cubs to Win +130
White Sox to Win -140
Over 9.0 -110
Under 9.0 -110

The Cubs have dropped five of their last six games before Friday’s opener, while the White Sox were riding a five-game losing streak.

The hosts opened as -140 favorites mostly because they have more firepower at the plate, but the White Sox have more on the table, too.

The Cubs will almost certainly win the NL Central, as they were three games ahead of the closest rival on Friday. On the other side, the White Sox are battling for the AL Central title, and they were one game behind the top-placed Twins ahead of this series.

Cubs vs. White Sox Preview

During their five-game skid, the White Sox have yielded 27 runs in total while scoring only 16 in a return. They’ve been excellent offensively for most of the season, and the White Sox possess the sixth-highest scoring offense in the MLB that averages 5.07 runs per contest.

On the other side, the Cubs’ offense is a big disappointment with only 4.21 runs scored per game (23rd in the MLB). The Cubs posted the fourth-worst batting average of .220 and the sixth-worst OPS of .697.

Anyway, the Cubs are allowing only 3.91 runs per game (7th). They will start Jon Lester in this one, and the lefty is 3-2 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 11 starts this season.

Lester met the White Sox once in 2020 and was completely dismantled in 3.2 frames of work, surrendering eight earned runs on nine hits including four round-trippers.

Rookie Dane Dunning will take the hill for the ChiSox, and he’s 2-0 with a 3.19 ERA and 1.03 WHIP in six starts. The righty has been doing well thus far, but he’s allowed four earned runs through four innings last time out. He’ll meet the Cubs for the first time.

Cubs vs. White Sox Betting Pick

Considering the Cubs’ poor offense, I’m not concerned about Dane Dunning’s performance on Saturday. I’m not expecting the rookie to dominate on the mound, but he has a solid 33/10 K/BB ratio across 31 innings.

On the other side, I expect the White Sox to hit hard against Jon Lester and put on a similar performance as they did in their previous meeting. Lester has allowed just a couple of runs over his last three starts, but he’s faced off against some poor offensive teams in that span.

Jon has allowed five or more earned runs in four starts this season, so he could easily struggle against the ChiSox once more. The hosts desperately need a win, and I’m backing them to deliver.

These two foes played a three-game series earlier in the season, and the White Sox won it 2-1 at Wrigley Field.
