Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Prediction for December 8th, 2021

| December 7, 2021 2:35 pm PDT

The Bulls have been very impressive so far in 2021. They have been floating around first place for the majority of this season in the East and have an impressive 17-8 record. The Cavs will be the home team for this one, as they try to snap a 2 game losing streak.

The Cavs are sitting one game above .500 at a 13-12 and have been a bit of a surprise so far this season.

Let’s get into the matchup preview and prediction for this week’s Bulls and Cavs game.

Odds for Bulls vs. Cavs

Chicago Bulls +2-110
Cleveland Cavaliers -2-110
Over 208-110
Under 208-110

The Cavs are favored to win this one at home, which may come as a surprise to some people. They have actually been one of the best teams in their home stadium so far this season.

The Bulls are rolling right now and are one of the league’s most impressive teams in the young season.

Why the Bulls Will Win

The Bulls are certainly capable of winning this game despite being 2 point underdogs. They are rocking a solid 4 game winning streak with wins over the Hornets, Knicks, Nets, and Nuggets. They are proving themselves not only to be a good team, but capable of beating other tough teams.

The Cavs actually pose less of a threat to them than the past couple of teams they have beat. Demar Derozan and Lonzo Ball were two incredible additions over the offseason and have significantly improved this Bulls team.

This the first of four matchups with the Cavaliers the Bulls will have this season. The Bulls rank 6th in Offensive Rating and 5th in Defensive Rating, which is a recipe to win any given game this season.

Something that will be a challenge for them in the next couple games will be missing Demar Derozan due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Alex Caruso is also going to be out for this game with the Cavs but he has a hamstring injury. Both these players will have significant roles to play for the Bulls down the stretch.

If you think back to this same Bulls team last season, Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic proved themselves capable of carrying the load themselves. They will be tasked with the same sort of deal with Derozan gone. They have a handful of other quality players to help them along the way and they should be more than capable than beating the Cavs on Wednesday.

Why the Cavs Will Win

There is a slight chance that the Bulls struggle without Derozan and Caruso. They have a decent number of players who can put up strong games, but they just lack some consistency. Darius Garland is leading the charge with over 19 points per game, while they have decent pieces around him.

Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, and Lauri Markkanen provide some quality bigs that can take advantage of the fact that the Bulls lack some quality depth. Vucevic is a good big for the Bulls, but they often go small with their lineups and could be vulnerable to the Cavs bigs.

Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love provide two solid veterans that can provide some solid production as well. Cleveland has actually been very impressive at home against the spread. They sit at an impressive 8-3-1 at home ATS so far this season.

The Cavs haven’t been great on the offensive side, but they have been a top defensive team so far this season. Their Defensive Rating ranks 4th in the NBA, while their Offensive Rating is trailing behind at 19th.

My Prediction for Bulls vs. Cavs

This should be an interesting matchup. The Cavs haven’t been super impressive this season, but they haven’t been too bad either. The Bulls are a very solid team but will be without two key players in this game.

I’m going to take the Bulls spread (+2) in this one and might consider their underdog money line as well. This Cavs team is still in a slight rebuild, so they can lose any given game.
