Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks – NBA Pick and Prediction for December 2 (2021)

| December 1, 2021 2:34 pm PDT

The Bulls and the Knicks face off for the third time this season on Thursday. They have split the season series so far (1-1) and each team is looking to get a leg up on the other before their 4th and final game in March (28th).

Chicago is an impressive 14-8 on the season so far and are coming off an impressive win over the Charlotte Hornets. The Knicks are coming off a narrow loss to the Nets (110-112) and are 11-10 on the season.

This is set to be a solid matchup, as both of their first two matchups have been decided by less than 7 points combined. Let’s get into the matchup preview and my prediction for this game.

Odds for Bulls vs. Knicks

Chicago Bulls -1-110
New York Knicks +1-110
Over 213.5-110
Under 213.5-110

The spread indicates this one being a very close matchup, which sounds about right. The over/under total is set at a solid 213.5, with odds available from Sportsbetting.ag.

The fact that there is no true favorite means that this one can go either way. This makes for a quality game of basketball and a fun one to watch. On the other hand, it makes it very hard to predict.

Let’s take a look at how both teams have played this season and how they can win this game.

Why the Bulls Will Win

This Bulls team is starting to look more legit by the week. They are second in the Eastern Conference at this point in the season and they very well might stay there. Their offseason additions are paying off big time, while Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic are still their respective talented selves.

The Bulls have been great this season on both ends of the floor. All 6 of their top players in their rotation all rank within the top 86 players in Defensive Win Shares. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso lead the way at 8th and 17th ranked respectively, while the other Bulls have been playing great defense as well.

On the offensive side, Demar Derozan and Zach Lavine have been incredible. They both rank within the top 25 (Derozan 8th, Lavine 24th) in Offensive Win Shares. With those stats, it is not a surprise to see that the Bulls rank within the top 10 in both Offensive Rating (9th) and Defensive Rating (8th).

Nikola Vucevic missed some time this season with health and safety protocols, but he seemed to have his breakout game since coming back against Charlotte.

This team is very balanced and talented. They are going to be a very underrated team when it comes to the NBA playoffs, so don’t find yourself betting against them too often.

Why the Knicks Will Win

The Knicks have been a little more up and down coming into this game against the Bulls. Their 11-10 record isn’t going to wow anyone and Kemba Walker was recently kicked out of the rotation. Walker was brought in over the offseason and was supposed to be a piece for them to take them over the top, but he has been a disappointment.

Julius Randle has been leading the charge for them with 19.4 points per game, but no one else is averaging over 14.0 points per game. Alec Burks has been the one taking over Walker’s minutes in the rotation, and he had a solid game against Brooklyn (25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists).

Burks and Randle are going to be two solid pieces for the Knicks, but they are lacking consistency in other areas. Evan Fournier and R.J Barrett are two players who can provide some solid points outside of Burks and Randle as well.

This Knicks team can hang with any team, but they can also put up a dud as well. Maybe Burks being in the starting point guard spot is the jump start they needed to get a rhythm going.

My Prediction for Bulls vs. Knicks

This game is a tough one to pick. Either team can play well enough to sneak out a win. The Knicks are a solid team and this one is in their home stadium. The Bulls are looking to continue their impressive season to date, and the Knicks are in their way.

I lean more towards the Bulls here, but I lean even more towards the under. Both of their first two games went under the point total set for this game (207 and 212). On top of that, Knicks games have hit the under 61.9% of the time and 54.6% of Bulls games too.

The Knicks play very slowly in terms of pace as well, ranking 25th in the league. The Bulls are in the middle of the pack there at 13th, but play very good defense which is good for the under.

Give me the under here as both teams have a solid chance of winning this game. Head to the best NBA betting sites to bet along with me.
