Chicago Bears vs. Atlanta Falcons – NFL, September 27, 2020

| September 23, 2020 4:55 am PDT

Atlanta fans had a difficult time waking up on Monday morning. The diehard Falcons loyalists probably couldn’t even fall asleep on Sunday night.

But if there’s anything to take away from the devastating loss at the hands of the Cowboys in week 2, it’s the fact that the offense is firing on all cylinders.

Can Matt Ryan and company keep it up against Khalil Mack and Chicago?

This Bears vs. Falcons betting preview aims to find out.

Bears vs. Falcons Odds

Bears (+3.5)-105
Falcons (-3.5)-115
Bears to Win+166
Falcons to Win-195
Over 47.5-110
Under 47.5 -110

So much for records meaning anything through the first two weeks of the year. The Bears are undefeated, the Falcons are winless, and yet BetOnline had no issues installing Atlanta has a 3.5-point favorite.

Dan Quinn’s bunch gets a substantial bump thanks to playing at home, and it’s worth pointing out just how miserable Matt Nagy’s squad was last season against the spread as a visitor.

The Bears were 1-6 ATS on the road – or 1-7 if you count the Bears not covering against the Raiders in London.

Bears vs. Falcons Preview

The haters can say what they want about Mitchell Trubisky, but the numbers don’t lie. The dude is 2-0 and has thrown more touchdowns than Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson combined.

Atlanta better find a way to apply pressure on Trubisky, otherwise, it’ll be another sleepless night for the entire Falcons fan base.

Allen Robinson is yet to get going, although that should change on Sunday facing a lousy Falcons secondary. RB David Montgomery dodged what looked like it could have been a severe neck injury and will have no issues burning a hole through Atlanta’s front seven.

The Falcons might not surrender 38 or more points for the third consecutive week, but expect Chicago’s offense to have no trouble sustaining drives. The same goes for when Matt Ryan has the football in his hands.

Here’s a team that just put up 39 points in Jerry’s World despite Julio Jones being a complete non-factor (2 catches, 24 yards). Ryan has weapons galore, but his defense can’t stop anybody.

Perhaps we’re in for another track meet in week 3.

Bears vs. Falcons Pick

Dan Quinn’s seat is warm, but it’ll turn red-hot if Atlanta is 0-3 heading into week 4.

My Bears vs. Falcons prediction is that Atlanta will find a way to win this game, but banking on them to cover by more than a field goal is a bit ambitious for my liking.

What I am not convinced about is that 47.5 points are a high enough total for a game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Not with the way Raheem Morris’ unit has performed thus far.

We saw 63 points scored here in week 1, plus we saw 79 points scored in the Falcons week 2 contest in Dallas.

The bottom line is Atlanta is a potent team offensively, but they’re abominable on the other side of the ball.
