Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Betting Preview – EPL, January 27, 2021

A Frank Lampard-less Chelsea return to the league on Wednesday after the FA Cup win over Luton proved not good enough to keep the former club favorite in his job.

Nuno Espirito Santo has also been under fire for his side’s less than convincing performances this season. A good result here would really help him keep hold of his current position.

Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Odds

Chelsea to Win-164
The Draw+270
Wolverhampton Wanderers to Win+460

At first glance, these look like pretty favorable odds for a Wolves win. But the Black Country club has been a shadow of its former self this season – and has really missed the goals of Raul Jimenez upfront. Chelsea has hardly been spectacular in the last few months, but the home win bet does seem the way to go here.

Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Analysis

A Tammy Abraham hat-trick ultimately put any worries to bed, but there had been some talk of an upset concerning Chelsea’s FA Cup game against Luton at the weekend. With Frank Lampard now out of the door, there may well be a renewed sense of determination in the squad as it plays for a chance to be included in future squads.

There has only been one win in the last five league games now, though, and the calls for young midfielder Billy Gilmour to be given an extended run in the team have been getting louder. He could feature here, but there is more of a question over Timo Werner after another poor display at the weekend. He will be one player happy that a new manager with experience of the Bundesliga is coming in.

Wolves are trying to deal with their own attacking problems – and have brought in Brazilian striker Willian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad in an attempt to pick up a few quick wins. He probably won’t be available for this trip to Stamford Bridge, though, so Nuno Espirito Santo will need either Fabio Silva or Patrick Cutrone to provide the chances.

The cup game against non-league Chorley on Friday failed to give his players the opportunity to fire a much-needed, morale-boosting haul of goals, so now Wolves now must do the job in the league. There is no mystery as to why Wolves are not performing as well as last season – but the time for excuses has passed now.

Chelsea vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction and Pick

  • Chelsea to Win

A new manager at Stamford Bridge should be just what Chelsea needs as it gets rid of a fans’ favorite who was under-qualified for the job – and looks to a far more experienced head coach instead. There may be a period of settling in now that Chelsea cannot really afford, but a win at home to a struggling Wolves on Wednesday should be achievable.
