Chelsea vs. West Bromwich Albion – English Premier League, April 3, 2021

After an international break and a weekend largely devoid of Premier League fixtures, England’s top-flight gets back to business with West Brom’s trip to the capital to take on Chelsea on Saturday.

The London side has looked unstoppable under new boss Thomas Tuchel and could pose further problems for West Brom as it attempts to escape the bottom three.

There is no mistaking which way BetOnline thinks this game will go at the weekend. But with the way Chelsea and West Brom have been playing recently, it is also no surprise to see odds like this.

Sam Allardyce’s team will need a huge effort for this game to end in anything but a win for the home side.

Since Thomas Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard as head coach of Chelsea at the end of January, the west London club has won six and drawn four of its ten Premier League fixtures. It has also progressed to the FA Cup’s semifinals and knocked Atletico Madrid out of the Champions League. It is fair to say that the appointment of the German coach has had a positive effect.

The improvement can be seen in many of the players’ individual performances and the tactics used. Chelsea is now looking very good for a top-four finish and only has a few slight injury concerns coming out of the international break. Another three points on Saturday will be expected.

Sam Allardyce has not had the same kind of impact on his club since taking over in December, and the Baggies look doomed.

The win over Brighton at the end of February was not seized upon, and West Brom went through March’s entirety without scoring a single goal. For all the good performances from loan signings in January, the club is exactly the same as when Slaven Bilic was sacked just before Christmas.

Chelsea is the overwhelming favorite to win the early game on Saturday, and it would take a brave person to back the visiting side.

Tuchel has Chelsea playing a confident and successful soccer style that could even see the club overtake Leicester and Manchester United before the end of the season. West Brom should pose very few problems in the pursuit of that.
