Chelsea vs. Tottenham Hotspur – EPL, November 29, 2020

West meets north on Sunday, as Chelsea and Spurs contest another EPL London derby. Both clubs look good this season and this will be an intriguing encounter between two genuine title contenders.

Tottenham tops the table at the current time, but a Chelsea win could see Frank Lampard’s side take over at the summit.

Chelsea vs. Spurs Odds

Chelsea to Win +111
The Draw +245
Tottenham Hotspur to Win +225

Jose Mourinho would probably feel a little hard done by that the bookmakers have made Chelsea the favorite to win on Sunday.

Tottenham has beaten both Manchester teams convincingly this season already and has pushed itself into consideration for the title. The odds offered for the draw might be of better value.

Match Preview

Chelsea completely overwhelmed Newcastle last weekend and ended up with 70% of the possession away from home as it sauntered to a 2-0 win. The clean sheet might have been just as pleasing for Frank Lampard as the win itself, as his team had had a problem conceding goals earlier in the season.

Now the Stamford Bridge club is on a seven-game unbeaten run – winning the last three – and has still only lost to Liverpool this season. The new signings have all played their part, with Timo Werner really starting to enjoy life in the EPL now. He will surely give the Spurs defense a tough time on Sunday.

But that is a Tottenham back line that has only conceded one goal in its last four games. It took a while for Jose Mourinho’s tactics to have an effect – but they have certainly come to the fore now. There is also an added attacking element that hasn’t always been in evidence in Mourinho teams of the past.

Only Chelsea has scored more goals than Spurs in the league this season – and Tottenham has the tightest defense as well. There is always the worry that an injury to Harry Kane could derail a Spurs title challenge. But there should be more faith in the rest of the forward line now if that does happen.

Chelsea vs. Spurs Pick

  • The Draw

I’m going for the draw here, mainly because of the odds. The game could go either way but I feel that the price for the draw holds the best value. I’m not sure that Spurs can come away with a win on Sunday, but Mourinho will prepare for this game with the pre-requisite of not losing against his former club.
