Chelsea vs. Sheffield United Betting Preview – EPL, November 7, 2020

Things are becoming a little more serious at Brammall Lane now that Sheffield United is going into its eighth game of the season still waiting to pick up its first win of the campaign.

But with Frank Lampard looking like he has worked out how best to play his collection of stars, the South Yorkshire club might find getting anything from this weekend’s fixture a tough prospect.

Chelsea vs. Sheffield United Odds

Chelsea to Win -257
The Draw +340
Sheffield United to Win +725

The odds for this game last season would have been very different. But the poor form and results of Sheffield United as it deals with its second year in the EPL has made it easier for the betting sites to make it the clear underdog.

The odds for the away win are tempting, but Chelsea looked very good last week and should get its second win in two games.

Team Form

Chelsea’s new signings look to have got into the swing of things now, as both Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner scored in the 3-0 win over Burnley last weekend. Defender Kurt Zouma found the net for the other goal and he is also helping to make the Chelsea defense as strong as its attacking qualities at last too.

It had looked like Frank Lampard was unsure how to use the many talents in his squad in the first few weeks of the season. There have been plenty of goals, but something just wasn’t quite clicking. Now he can boast just one defeat in one defeat in seven EPL games and one of the best defensive records in the division.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, is looking up at the majority of the teams in the table and is still yet to win a single game. The Blades will be without Ethan Ampadu for this one as well, as the on-loan defensive midfielder is unable to play against his parent club.

The Wales international could be missed in the middle of the pitch, as Chelsea has the players to cut through what has been an infective Sheffield United defensive unit. There is plenty of talent able to thread passes through to Timo Werner as well. Blades boss Chris Wilder could be in for a long day on Saturday.

Chelsea vs. Sheffield United Pick

  • Chelsea to Win

Sheffield United brought the EPL a refreshing new approach after winning promotion last summer. But this second season in the top flight has been far more difficult. It could be the dreaded ‘second season syndrome’, but whatever is going on, Chris Wilder needs to work out how to stop the rot quickly.
