Chelsea vs. Newcastle United – EPL, February 15, 2021

The final game of this round of fixtures in the EPL sees Thomas Tuchel looking to extend his unbeaten record as Chelsea head coach by beating Newcastle at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The Magpies have looked a little better in recent weeks but have been rocked by the injury to Callum Wilson and face a very tough task to get anything from this now.

You might have been able to get better odds for a Chelsea win before the news of Wilson’s injury, but now every bookmaker – including BetOnline – will be pricing this fixture like this. There doesn’t seem to be too much chance of a Newcastle win, and that makes it difficult to recommend any match result bet.

Tuchel is yet to see his Chelsea team lose – and another victory in the FA Cup means that the Blues remain on course to challenge the favorites in two competitions this season. The new manager is starting to show how he wants his team to play now – as well as the players in the squad that he prefers.

The wins against Sheffield United and Barnsley in the last week were not particularly impressive, but you can see how much faith he has in players such as Mason Mount. The players also seem to be giving back more than they did for Frank Lampard – and that could make the race for the Champions League places very interesting over the next few months.

Steve Bruce will probably be hoping that none of the bottom three set off on a positive run of results, as he deals with the news that his main striker will be out until April at the earliest. Callum Wilson has scored ten of the 25 goals Newcastle has managed this season and will be sorely missed.

The good news is that fan-favorite Allan Saint-Maximin seems back to his energetic best – and the loan signing of Joe Willock paid dividends immediately as he scored in the win over Southampton last weekend. Players like Miguel Almiron will also have to step up now, but I can’t see them getting the better of a rampant Chelsea.

The odds for a Newcastle win at Stamford Bridge are the longest that BetOnline is offering for any Premier League side this weekend – but I am still not anywhere near tempted. The price for a home win is just as unattractive, though, so I would investigate the goals market here, as I have a feeling that the home side might be celebrating a few on Monday.
