In the Premier League standings, second-place Liverpool leads third-place Chelsea by ten points. Due to the Reds’ recent hot streak, the gulf between the two teams has grown in recent weeks.

Should the final go to extra-time and/or penalties, the Reds are favored to lift the cup at 1.65. The Blues are priced at 2.25 to secure the trophy after normal time.

Chelsea heads into Sunday’s showdown on a six-game winning streak in all competitions. Earlier this month, Thomas Tuchel’s side clinched the FIFA Club World Cup before beating Lille in the UEFA Champions League.

Given that Chelsea sits 13 points behind first-place Manchester City in the EPL standings, Tuchel’s men are all but out of the title race. But they still have the chance to win multiple trophies this season. They already have one foot in the UCL quarter-finals and should progress in the FA Cup.

Although Romelu Lukaku has failed to make an impact since returning to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea isn’t struggling to score goals at the moment. Guys like Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech are performing well, with the latter scoring in his last three EPL appearances.

If you think Chelsea’s winning streak is impressive, wait until you hear about Liverpool’s current run.

The Reds crushed Leeds United 6-0 last time out, with both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane bagging a brace. Not only did they enjoy 64% possession on Wednesday, but they also racked up 23 shots – 15 of which were on target.

Having led Senegal to Africa Cup of Nations glory earlier this month, Mane is on fire at the moment. Even so, Salah remains the star of the show at Anfield. Although Salah’s Egypt lost to Mane’s Senegal in the AFCON final, Salah is arguably the best player on the planet right now.

Sunday’s showdown is destined to be a tense affair. With a place on the Wembley winner’s podium up for grabs, both the managers and players are bound to approach the game with a degree of caution.

That said, I think Liverpool has the upper hand ahead of the final. The Merseysiders have won each of their last nine games, keeping six clean sheets in the process. At the opposite end of the pitch, they have been scoring goals for fun.

Having taken everything into consideration, I’m confident that the Reds will secure their ninth EFL Cup title this weekend.
