Chaos vs. 100 Thieves Pick – Thursday, August 20, 2020
The North American division’s schedule of the 2020 ESL One: Cologne event brings us a crunch tie between Chaos Esports and 100 Thieves.
Both organizations started the tournament in style and this matchup is a great chance to book an early playoff spot.
My Chaos vs. 100 Thieves betting pick for August 20th is based on the current prices for the top markets, the value they carry and I also look at how these organizations have been faring lately.

First, a look at the odds and here is what BetOnline’s sportsbook offers for the main betting markets:

All of the best CS:GO betting sites have 100 Thieves as the favorite but is backing the Australians the value option here?
Let’s check out how both organizations have been doing lately and I then share my thoughts on which is the best market to target here.
The Americans’ displays since the restart have been quite stable so far.
They made it to the playoffs of the DreamHack event and despite eventually falling to FURIA in the semi-finals, there were quite a few positives to take away from the tie.
Captain steel did put these into practice and his team managed to take revenge on the Brazilians at the start of the ESL One: Cologne event and are now looking at a great chance to make it to the playoff bracket.
They were heavily beaten the last time they faced 100 Thieves but with Xeppaa and leaf’s significant reent improvement, the game should be much closer this time around.
The Thieves hadn’t played competitively for over a month and will be quite pleased with their performance against Gen.G in the opening ESL One: Cologne fixture.
I was expecting and a close tie and it could’ve easily gone either way but the Australians should be congratulated for making their T rounds count in the end.
This will be their main strength again with jks leading the line but he will need support from key piece jkaem as well and his form was a bit worrying in the last outing.
They will probably not get Vertigo this time as this is Chaos’ usual ban pick and it will be very interesting to see what captain AZR will go for.
In any case, this team can be relentless if given an opening and if Chaos fails on the defense here, the tie could be over before we know it.
Chaos vs. 100 Thieves Prediction and Betting Pick
I doubt that any of these two teams will be able to dominate.
Chaos has the advantage of having played more games lately and coming up with some solid displays but the Thieves looked steady in their first outing in more than a month.
I was entertaining the idea of backing Chaos on account of the very high price for them but I feel they still can’t be trusted to perform consistently.
However, the form Xeppaa and leaf are currently in does give them a chance to upset the odds here, especially if jkaem and AZR don’t show up again.
It should be a tight one and the odds of +120 for the Over 2.5 market give you the best value option.
