Pick and Prediction for Celtics vs. Warriors Game 5 of the 2022 NBA Finals

| June 12, 2022 11:40 am PDT

The NBA Finals have been very exciting this year, as we head into Game 5. Golden State was able to even up the series at 2-2 in Boston in the last game, so they’ll be looking to take the lead. Boston will look to do the same before heading back to Boston for Game 6.

Steph Curry has been playing out of his mind in this series. He led the charge for the Warriors, as the Celtics just couldn’t pull away. Curry’s incredible 43-point effort was one of the best NBA Finals performances we have seen in a while.

If he has another monster performance like that, we might already have our Celtics vs. Warriors free pick for Game 5.

Let’s take a look at the Celtics vs. Warriors odds to see which team is favored to take a 3-2 series lead.

It’s no surprise to see the Warriors as favorites for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. They have looked incredible and now get to go back home for a very important game. Even though each team has won one game at home and one on the road, it’s still a huge boost to play in front of your own fans.

Since this series is very evenly matched across the board, being at home can be that slight advantage that makes the difference. Every game so far has had the home team favored to win, so expect the next game to have the Celtics as favorites for Game 6.

This game has great magnitude considering each team has a chance to go up 3-2. I would say it’s more important for Golden State because heading back to Boston facing elimination would be very hard to overcome.

When making our Celtics vs. Warriors expert picks, it’s important to take everything into consideration. Luckily there are no players on the injury report for this game, which is a relief considering last year’s playoffs.

You can find these Celtics vs. Warriors odds on the best NBA betting sites. If you don’t know who you are going to be betting on for Game 5, let’s break down the matchup a little more to help you get there.

Celtics vs. Warriors Matchup Preview for Game 5

So far in this series, there hasn’t been a team to win two games in a row. Boston won Games 1 and 3, while Golden State won Games 2 and 4. Now that doesn’t mean that the Celtics have the upper hand here.

The Warriors’ win in Game 4 was massive. Boston could have taken a major 3-1 series lead and had 3 chances to seal the deal. Thanks to Steph Curry, the Warriors still are very much in this.

Curry has been nothing short of spectacular in this year’s NBA Finals. Here’s a look at his stats from each game so far;

  • 34 Points in Game 1 (L)
  • 29 Points in Game 2 (W)
  • 31 Points in Game 3 (L)
  • 43 Points in Game 4 (W)

That’s an average of 34.25 points per game and his shooting percentages are elite at 50/49/85. He’s put the Warriors on his back in this series. If the Celtics can’t stop him, their chances of winning this series are slim.

Curry can’t do it all by himself though, a bad shooting night could be devastating to the Warriors. Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole have been somewhat disappointing so far. Both of these players need to be more consistent and productive to lift some of the weight off Curry.

As for Boston, they finally fell apart in the 4th quarter in Game 4. They’ve outscored the Warriors by 40 total points across Games 1 through 3. The Warriors were able to outscore them by 9 in Game 4, which helped them win by 10.

Boston shot just 34.8% from the field and 29.2% from 3 in the second half. They need to improve on both ends of the court if they want to win this next game.

Let’s make our Celtics vs. Warriors picks for a Same Game Parlay before we head into the official game pick.

Celtics vs. Warriors Picks for a Same Game Parlay

Robert Williams Over 7.5 Rebounds-124
Andrew Wiggins Over 6.5 Rebounds-145
Steph Curry 2+ Steals+114
Kevon Looney Over 6.5 Points+106

If you are having trouble making Celtics vs. Warriors betting picks so far in this series, maybe trying a Same Game Parlay will help you turn things around. SGPs are great ways to parlay some player props together for some incredible value.

For example, the Celtics vs. Warriors odds for these 4 selections combine for (+1150) on Bovada. That means a $100 bet would turn into $1,250 if all legs hit.

Robert Williams has caused some serious headaches for the Warriors. He’s killed it on the glass in the last two games with 10 (3 offensive) and 12 rebounds (4 offensive). Golden State tends to play very small, so Williams can outmuscle basically everyone in the paint.

Andrew Wiggins is coming off a huge rebounding performance with a career-high 16 in Game 4. I’m not expecting him to get another 10+, but 7 seems like a reasonable expectation. He’s gotten 7+ in two straight games and the Warriors are in desperate need of rebounding.

I think Boston steps it up against Curry on defense, so I’m not going to take his points or threes for Game 5. Instead, I think his steals have great value at (+114) for 2+. He’s gotten 2+ steals in 3 out of the 4 games with 3 in Games 1 and 2. He didn’t get any in Game 4, but he could bounce back.

Since the Celtics will probably put more pressure on Curry up top, that should open up down low. Kevon Looney could be someone to have a big performance in Game 5 because of that, so this pick could have great value.

These 4 Celtics vs. Warriors predictions could be a nice way for you to cash out big in Game 5.

Celtics vs. Warriors Betting Pick for Game 5

My Pick: Golden State Warriors to Win (-165)Bet the Warriors to Win on BetOnline

That brings us to our official Celtics vs. Warriors pick for Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Since this is such an evenly matched series, you can’t go wrong with either team. Boston can very well bounce back from their Game 4 loss and they have more value in their moneyline (+140).

With that being said, I can’t go against the Warriors in this one. I think they finally win two games in a row in this series and take a 3-2 series lead. That would perfectly set up a Boston win at home in Game 6 and a dramatic Game 7. Game 7s are always incredible and this series definitely has the means to get there.

Steph Curry is on fire right now and that should terrify Boston. The Warriors are already a very talented team but are on another level when Curry is hot. An extra day off could also help Klay and Poole get going offensively as well.

I do think there’s a chance that this one is very close, which is why I prefer the moneyline compared to the -3.5 (-115) spread.
