Canadian Premier League Predictions and Picks – Sunday, June 26, 2022

It’s top against bottom in the Canadian Premier League on Sunday, June 26, as first-place Cavalry hosts last-place Edmonton. The all-Alberta clash is one of two CPL games scheduled for this Sunday, along with York United vs. Valour.
- York United vs. Valour FC
- Cavalry FC vs. FC Edmonton
Today, I will be taking you through my Candian Premier League predictions for Sunday, June 26. I will also go over the top CPL betting picks for Sunday’s clashes, so be sure to stick around until the end to take advantage of that!
Canadian Premier League Predictions for Sunday, June 26
It’s time to dive into Sunday’s Canadian Premier League predictions. Below, I cover all the key statistics and trends that you need to know about before you bet on the CPL this weekend.
York United vs. Valour FC Prediction
A solitary point separates sixth-place York United and seventh-place Valour in the CPL standings. Although Valour has a game in hand on York United, both sides must improve in order to enhance their playoff hopes.
The Nine Stripes are currently enduring a six-game winless run in the league, having recorded three draws and three losses since their last victory. To make matters worse, they have failed to score in any of their past six outings.
With you in mind, you probably won’t be surprised to learn that Martin Nash’s men are the lowest scorers in the Canadian Premier League this year.
- York United – 6
- HFX Wanderers – 10
- FC Edmonton – 11
- Atletico Ottawa – 11
- Pacific FC – 13
Granted, York United boasts the best defensive record in the league – conceding just seven goals in 11 games. But if the team from Toronto is serious about securing a top-four spot, things must improve at the opposite end of the field.
Thankfully for York United, Valour is also on a disappointing run at the moment. The Manitobans were thrashed 4-2 by Cavalry last time out, meaning they have failed to win any of their previous five matches.
That said, only one team – lowly FC Edmonton – has conceded more goals than Valour in 2022. Across all competitions, Dos Santos’ boys have only managed to keep two clean sheets in 13 outings!
This matchup brings together two sides with contrasting philosophies. York United doesn’t score many goals but concedes very few, while Valour scores plenty but struggles defensively. That’s why I’m backing the draw here.
Cavalry FC vs. FC Edmonton Prediction
The league leaders extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-2 victory over Valour last time out. Can anyone stop Cavalry right now?
When you look at the bigger picture, the Cavs have avoided defeat in each of their previous seven CPL clashes – securing six wins and one draw along the way. Not only did they score 15 goals in that time, but they also kept four clean sheets.
At the opposite end of the standings, Edmonton sits two points adrift of second-bottom Valour. To make matters worse for the Eddies, they have played two games more than Valour.
Following 12 failed attempts, Alan Koch’s boys FINALLY picked up their first win of the season last weekend – beating Atletico Ottawa 1-0. Still, there is no hiding the fact that Koch’s boys have lost seven of their 12 CPL games this year.
It is also worth noting that Edmonton has the worst defensive record by a considerable margin. In fact, the Eddies have conceded at a rate of 1.8 goals per game so far in 2022.
- FC Edmonton – 22
- Valour FC – 15
- HFX Wanderers – 15
- Pacific FC – 14
- Atletico Ottawa – 13
Let’s not forget that Edmonton headed into last weekend’s clash against Atletico Ottawa on a 12-game winless run across all competitions. The Eddies suffered eight losses in ten outings before edging out Ottleti, so they still have a lot of work to do.
I’m not going to let Edmonton’s surprise victory impact my prediction for this game. Ultimately, high-flying Cavalry should dispatch lowly Edmonton without any issues.
Best Canadian Premier League Bets for Sunday, June 26
I have trawled the best soccer betting sites to find the top Canadian Premier League picks for this Sunday. Here are my recommended wagers.
I predicted that York United and Valour will play out a draw at York Lions Stadium, but the draw is always a risky bet. Instead, I like the look of the under 2.5 goals wager for this clash.
Unlike York United, the Cavs love scoring goals. That’s why I’m backing them to beat Edmonton with a -1 handicap. Let’s not forget that Edmonton has the worst defensive record in the CPL this year.
