Burnley vs. Manchester United – EPL, January 12, 2021

Although both these clubs progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend, they would probably have rather kept on playing EPL fixtures after some recent good results.

Burnley is looking forward to the investment that the new owners will bring in. But for now, Sean Dyche must work out how to beat one of the most expensively assembled teams in the Premier League with the players he has.

BetOnline doesn’t give Burnley much of a chance to win this one, even though it is the home side on Tuesday. The Clarets will always put up a good fight – and there might be the chance of a draw if United doesn’t take this seriously enough. The away win bet is probably the way to go here, though.

There is a new sense of optimism at Turf Moor now, with the news of an ownership change that should inject some much-needed transfer funds into the club. Sean Dyche, in particular, will be looking forward to bringing in some new players for the rest of the season.

But his Burnley side had actually started to pick up some decent results before the break for the FA Cup third round at the weekend. Just one defeat in the last six Premier League games has seen Burnley climb out of the bottom three – and there has to be a good feeling about the future now.

Manchester United will have little time for Burnley’s plight near the bottom of the table, though. After what had been reported as a difficult opening few months of the season, United now has the chance to go top of the table thanks to Liverpool not playing until the weekend.

Solskjaer made nine changes to his team for the 1-0 win over Watford in the FA Cup – and although there were still some big names on show, it was noticeable that playmaker Bruno Fernandes was not given a run out. He is the beating heart of this team and will probably have a big say in how this game against Burnley will go.

I would not be surprised if we see a big improvement in Burnley’s results and league position over the next few months. There is always a steely determination with Dyche’s team – and there is good reason to be confident now. But with United able to overtake Liverpool on Tuesday, I feel that the away win is the more likely outcome.
