Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers – NFL Week 13, 2020

The San Francisco 49ers haven’t managed to build on last season’s run to the final. They’ve been out of sorts recently, despite winning a close game against the Rams last time out.

Previous to that win, the 49ers had lost three straight games. The losses did come against the top three sides in the NFC this season, though.

The Bills are on the charge after winning four of their last five matches.  Their only loss coming in a close fought match up with the Cardinals in which the Bills were winning until two seconds to go!

The head to head stats are fairly even with the 49ers winning three of the last five meetings between the two.

The match has been moved to Arizona due to Covid-19 restrictions so home field advantage is taken away from the 49ers.

That said Buffalos last visit to the desert ended in defeat, will history repeat itself or will the Bills use that loss as motivation?

This really is a toss up between a side packed with talent which hasn’t been firing against a side with perhaps less ambitions this season but are riding high.

The edge goes to the more experienced 49ers, despite the loss of home advantage. They turn up more often than not in prime time games which cannot be said of the Bills.

If the Bills are to triumph here, they will have to tighten up their defence. Compared to the 49ers, their average rushing yards against are notably higher.

It’s been a real team effort for Buffalo this season as they don’t have any standout performers in terms of leading stats.

They will be encouraged by a roster that has a clean injury sheet

You wouldn’t say this is a must win game for the 49ers if they are to make the playoffs. But a loss would put a huge dent in their chances.

They got back to winning ways against the Rams last time out despite being behind with less than five minutes to go. The return of Deebo Samuel certainly helped as he caught eleven passes for one hundred and thirty three yards.

San Francisco also hasn’t had any standout performers this year. This is largely down to injuries and has not helped them in their search for consistency.

This will definitely be a close game, but the telling factor appears to be the Bills lack of wins in prime-time games.

They lost both such games this season against Tennessee and Kansas City and have a dismal record of six wins to twenty-three losses.
