Buffalo Bills vs. Las Vegas Raiders – NFL, October 4, 2020
The Las Vegas Raiders got off to a hot start opening the 2020 season with wins over Carolina and New Orleans. Dreams of a perfect season were shattered when they were routed 36-20 by the Patriots in Week 3. Things are definitely looking better for the Raiders than they have been in recent years.
The Buffalo Bills are 3-0 to start the year. There was a lot of hype around this team entering the season and, so far, they’ve lived up to it. However, wins over the hapless Jets and Miami Dolphins are nothing to brag about. Plus, it was a little disturbing that they almost suffered an embarrassing collapse against the Rams over the Rams in Week 3. The bills visit Sin City where they are currently listed as three-point favorites.

A lot of Buffalo’s success can be attributed to the emergence of Josh Allen who has amassed over 1,000 yards, a 71.1 completions percentage, and 10 touchdown passes against a single interception in his three games. The third-year quarterback appears to have taken the proverbial next step in his development. Of course, we cannot diminish the contributions of his supporting cast.
Derek Carr has also been good in leading an offense that has proven it can score. With both defenses showing a few cracks, a game total of 52 is not out of line. Especially considering how both teams have eclipsed the total in each one of their respective games.
Buffalo Bills Analysis
The Buffalo Bills made their fans and spread backers a little nervous as they frittered away a 28-3 third quarter lead. The defense allowed the Rams to score 29 unanswered points which left Buffalo in a 4-point hole with under five minutes to play. Fortunately, Allen connected with Tyler Croft for a game winning touchdown pass with just 15 seconds left.
We should also touch on their Week 2 win against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills held a lead through most of the game, but they allowed the Dolphins to remain within striking distance. Buffalo actually fell behind in the fourth quarter before scoring two quick touchdowns late in the game. Yes, they got the win, but they fell short of covering the -5.5 spread. This team cannot afford to leave the door open for Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Raiders Analysis
Vegas’ Week 1 triumph over the Carolina Panthers wasn’t all that surprising. They showed us that they can score, but they also showed us they can give up plenty of points too. Perhaps one of the most impressive wins of any game so far this year was Las Vegas’ Week 2 upset of the New Orleans Saints.
They were solid on the ground while Derek Carr and Darren Waller continually burned the Saints on short and medium routes. He also connected with ten other receivers. The Raiders D definitely looked a lot better than it did in Week 1.
Then came Week 3 and their trip to New England as 7-point dogs. This one was actually a lot more competitive than the final score would indicate. Well, in the first half at least. Las Vegas trailed 13-10 at the half and it looked as if they had a shot at pulling off another upset. Alas, they could only put up a field goal while New England made it into the end zone four times to take a commanding 36-13 lead into the closing minutes.
Carr connected with Hunter Renfrow for a final touchdown in garbage time. The Raiders’ defense managed to hold New England’s pass attack in check allowing Cam Newton to throw for just 162 yards and a touchdown while registering an interception. The run defense was a completely different story allowing a whopping 250 yards. Devin Singletary is probably looking forward to this one.
Bills vs. Raiders Betting Pick
Both of these teams have so far shown a flare for scoring. At the same time, both defenses have shown serious cracks. As mentioned, both teams have produced Overs in each of their respective matches. Also, the Over has prevailed in their last six head-to-head matches.
