Browns vs. Steelers Player Props for Monday Night Football – Week 17, 2022

| January 3, 2022 7:45 am PDT

The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers square off with a shot at the playoffs on the line to close out week 17. That should make for a festive betting environment on Monday Night Football.

Ben Roethlisberger and co. get to host this one, with the winner having a chance to sneak into the playoffs, and the loser sent packing.

If you want to bet on the game itself, stop by Anthony Haage’s Browns vs. Steelers betting preview. I’ve got you covered for the game within the game, as I break down my favorite Monday Night Football player props to target in week 17.

Ben Roethlisberger Over 0.5 Interceptions (EVEN)

I don’t mean to bring all of the negative vibes to such a big game, but it’s precisely the fact that this game is huge for both sides that I anticipate some mistakes happening.

Big Ben may be playing his final home game of his career, after all.

That could coax Roethlisberger to force the issue a bit, and he’ll probably need to air it out against the league’s 9th best run defense.

Cleveland generates consistent pressure (10th best sack percentage), too, while the Browns average over one takeaway per game. That’s all you need to cash this prop.

Jarvis Landry Over 4.5 Receptions (-115)

This is a pretty good price for Landry to hit right around his season average for catches. He’s topped this mark five times this season, and had at least four catches in all but two contests.

Odell Beckham Jr. is gone and the season is on the line, so Landry should be pretty involved here. He also was targeted at will the last time he faced the Steelers.

Here was his stat line back in week eight.

  • 10 targets
  • 5 catches
  • 65 receiving yards
  • 13 YPC

Landry is not an elite receiver, and the Browns prefer to run the ball. However, the Steelers are probably going to do all they can to force Baker Mayfield and company to take it to the air.

When they do, the Browns should look to Landry more often than not, and five catches in a massive divisional affair isn’t a whole lot to ask for.

Diontae Johnson Over 6.5 Receptions (-115)

I am slightly concerned over Johnson’s matchup, but he’s too good to shy away from here. The 6.5 catches marker feels light for a guy that has caught 6+ balls nine times this year.

Johnson’s target volume is what really makes me feel good, as he saw 10+ targets in 10 of his first 12 games.

While his workload dipped two weeks ago against the Titans, he was back in elite territory with nine balls coming his way last week.

With the season on the line, Johnson should be peppered with targets tonight. Seven catches isn’t a small number, but based on the likely volume (and Johnson’s talent), I like chasing it at this solid price.

My Top Monday Night Football Player Prop for Week 17

  • Nick Chubb Anytime Touchdown Scorer

I like the week 17 Monday Night Football player props above, but the one I love is Nick Chubb to find the end-zone.

Everyone knows the Browns want to (and need to) run the ball to be successful. Chubb can be a monster, too, and he’s been at the forefront of a top-10 rushing attack.

Chubb had nine rushing scores in 12 games on the year, and the Steelers have allowed 12 scores to running backs on the year.

Chubb’s explosiveness and effectiveness near the goal-line makes him a great bet to hit paydirt tonight.
