Brisbane Roar vs. Macarthur FC Betting Preview – A-League, February 9, 2021

| February 8, 2021 8:21 am PDT

In-form Brisbane will be looking to secure a fifth straight win when A-League newcomers Macarthur visit Queensland on Tuesday, February 9.

The Roar have taken 12 points from a possible 15 this season, while despite playing a game more, the Bulls find themselves trailing Warren Moon’s side by four points.

Let’s take a look at the odds before getting stuck into my Brisbane Roar vs. Macarthur FC prediction and betting pick.

Brisbane Roar vs. Macarthur FC Odds

Brisbane Roar to Win2.05
The Draw3.55
Macarthur FC to Win3.50

In all honesty, I’m pretty surprised by the high price for the Roar to win this one. Given that Brisbane (2.05) is currently enjoying a four-game winning streak, the odds for the home win seem very generous.

This will be the first meeting between Brisbane and Macarthur (3.50), making it difficult to gauge exactly how the Bulls will fare on Tuesday.

Brisbane Roar vs. Macarthur FC Match Analysis

The Roar lost their opening game of the season back in late December, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Melbourne City. But since then, things have been looking a lot brighter in the Sunshine State.

Two wins over Melbourne Victory, along with triumphs against Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United, have seen Brisbane climb to second on the A-League ladder – three points behind surprise leaders Central Coast Mariners.

Moon’s men have netted a combined total of 13 goals across their previous four matches, averaging just over three goals per game. Saturday’s 5-2 thrashing of Victory underlined their attacking power.

Scott McDonald and Riku Danzaki both bagged a grace at the weekend, while Dylan Wenzel-Halls completed the scoring. Wenzel-Halls has now scored five goals in five A-League outings this term, as well as notching up two assists.

If the 23-year-old continues to shine on Tuesday, Macarthur will find it difficult to stop the Roar.

It’s fair to say that the Bulls have made an indifferent start to their maiden A-League campaign, with a record of W2-D2-L2 underlining the team’s inconsistency.

Ante Milicic’s men have already claimed decent wins over Western Syndey Wanderers and the Jets, yet they were comfortably beaten by both the Mariners and Sydney FC.

Macarthur twice threw away the lead to draw with WSW last time out. Aleksandar Jovanovic put the newcomers ahead midway through the first half before Aleksandar Susnjar struck in the second half. But they ultimately failed to hold on.

The Bulls can take confidence from the fact that they managed to score twice in one game, although there is no denying that hitting the back of the net has been the team’s biggest problem this season.

Despite recruiting a number of big-name forwards before their debut campaign, Milicic’s men are currently the second-lowest scorers in the league.

Brisbane Roar vs. Macarthur FC Pick

  • Brisbane Roar to Win

Given that you can more than double your money by going with the home win here, backing Brisbane to claim all three points on Tuesday makes a lot of sense to me.

Wenzel-Halls has helped the Roar to win four straight matches, while the Bulls have struggled to establish a rhythm just yet. I’m confident that Macarthur will improve as the season unfolds, but I’m expecting the Queenslanders to down the newcomers this time around.
