Brighton and Hove Albion vs. Leeds United – English Premier League, May 1, 2021

Brighton needs to win its first game in five on Saturday to give itself a better chance of keeping Fulham at bay. The points gap may be seven, but there are still 15 to play for before the end of the season.

Leeds is the visitor on Saturday, as Marcelo Bielsa continues to oversee one of the most exciting and interesting seasons the club has enjoyed for a long time.

BetOnline has a lot of faith in Graham Potter and his Brighton side, making the home team the favorite to gain three valuable points this weekend. I’m not so sure about that.

I think that Leeds can test Brighton’s defense while dealing with anything the misfiring Seagulls front line has to offer.

Sheffield United had already been relegated by the time it beat Brighton last weekend. But the result showed up exactly why Graham Potter’s side finds itself in the position it is in. A poor first half gave way to a second period of domination – but with the Brighton strikers incapable of finding the net.

Neal Maupay was the biggest offender when it came to missing the target in the final third, but he was not the only culprit.

Marcelo Bielsa changed around his tactics last weekend for the clash with rivals Manchester United. Kalvin Phillips dealt with Bruno Fernandes expertly, which allowed the rest of the midfield to concentrate on the attacking side of the game. The goalless draw at Old Trafford was still a good result for Leeds in the end.

Now Patrick Bamford will be hoping that his midfielders give him the same kind of service as he attempts to add to his goal tally. He hasn’t scored for over a month now and has missed the build-up play of Raphinha and Rodrigo, both of whom may be absent for this game as well.

Leeds continues to surprise this season. When you think bigger teams will counter their attacking style of play, they change things up and man-mark dangerous players.

Marcelo Bielsa has done a fantastic job in the Premier League this season, and Leeds could well be a club to look out for as far as European qualification goes next year. Three points this Saturday should be won this weekend as well.
