Brentford vs. Leicester City – FA Cup, January 24, 2021

| January 22, 2021 8:17 am PDT

Championship side Brentford hosts Premier League title-contender Leicester on Sunday, January 24, for what is arguably one of the tastiest FA Cup fourth round ties this weekend.

Both sides find themselves third in their respective tables, with the Bees pushing for promotion and the Foxes aiming to keep pace in the EPL title race.

Keep reading to see my Brentford vs. Leicester City prediction and betting pick.

Brentford vs. Leicester City Odds

Brentford to Win4.95
The Draw3.80
Leicester City to Win1.64

Of course, Leicester (1.64) is expected to win this game. But when you look at Brentford’s recent form, the odds for the home win (4.95) and the draw (3.80) suddenly become very attractive.

It is difficult to argue with the viewpoint of the top online betting sites here, although I’m sure that plenty of bettors will be tempted by the high price for the outsider.

Brentford vs. Leicester City Preview

It is worth pointing out that the Bees are no strangers to facing Premier League opponents. In fact, they beat four top-flight sides on their way to reaching the EFL Cup semi-finals earlier in the month, only to eventually fall to Tottenham.

Thomas Frank’s men saw off Southampton, West Brom, Fulham, and Newcastle to reach the last four of the EFL Cup, so they clearly know what it takes to beat so-called “bigger” teams.

Meanwhile, a 16-game unbeaten streak in the Championship has seen Brentford climb to third in the second-tier standings. The Londoners narrowly missed out on promotion last term, but they could easily be playing EPL soccer next season.

Not only are the Bees the third-highest scorers in the Championship, but they also boast one of the best defensive records in the division. Brentford has scored 37 goals in 23 league games this season, conceding just 21 in reply.

With all of that in mind, I think this game will be a lot closer than the bookies are suggesting.

Leicester claimed a comfortable 4-0 victory over Championship opponents in the previous round of the FA Cup, with goals from James Justin, Marc Albrighton, Ayoze Perez, and Harvey Barnes sealing a routine win against Stoke City.

That win forms part of a seven-match unbeaten run for Brendan Rodgers’s side, which also includes four victories and two draws in the Premier League.

After beating Spurs and drawing with Manchester United and Crystal Palace, the Foxes claimed three straight EPL wins. Newcastle, Southampton, and Chelsea have all fallen to Leicester since the turn of the year, keeping Rodger’s men in the hunt for the title.

James Maddison has been at the heart of everything good about the Foxes recently. The playmaker has netted in each of Leicester’s last three EPL games, taking his tally to eight goals and six assists in all competitions this term.

If Jamie Vardy can find his scoring boots again, Leicester will be even more dangerous.

Brentford vs. Leicester City Pick

  • The Draw

In my eyes, the price for the away win is too low here. If I was backing Leicester, I would like the odds for the away win to be closer to 2.00. For that reason, I believe the draw is the best bet for this game.

The Bees are on a remarkable run right now, and they have already proven that they can beat EPL teams this season. With home advantage on their side, I can see Brentford pushing Leicester to extra-time.
