Brazil vs. Colombia – 2021 Copa America, June 23
This fixture really stood out as the game to watch in the Zona Norte of this year’s Copa America. Brazil and Colombia lead the way as we draw closer to the end of the opening group phase of the competition.
Brazil looks head and shoulders above the rest at the moment, though, and Colombia will need to raise its game if it is to compete in the later rounds. Read on to find out how I think the game will go – and for my Brazil vs. Colombia betting pick.
Copa America Zona Norte Standings
Brazil’s incredible start to the competition has left everyone else in its wake, and the +7 goal difference is down to a very tight defense that is yet to concede a goal in its opening two games.
Colombia’s Copa America campaign has been far less convincing. Although the likes of Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel will always cause opposing defenses some problems, it is its own backline that has made life difficult for head coach Reinaldo Rueda.
Brazil vs. Colombia Latest Odds
With Brazil looking unbeatable so far, it is hardly surprising that MyBookie has made the home side the odds on favorite to continue a remarkable run of form that has seen the Selecao unbeaten since November 2019.
Brazil vs. Colombia Match Preview
No one has been able to come close to Brazil at this tournament, and Alisson has hardly needed to make a save in the two games so far.
Neymar is completely running things for the hosts at this year’s Copa America, and I’m not sure that what has become a suspect Colombia defense will be able to deal with him on Wednesday.
Colombia began its Copa America campaign with a less than convincing 1-0 win over Ecuador in its opening game and then was unable to make its domination pay against Venezuela, recording a goalless draw in Goiania.
Things got even worse for Reinaldo Rueda’s side in the third fixture. They once again missed chances to take all three points and ultimately had none at all after Yerry Mina scored an own goal to hand Peru the win.
It has the players, but they have not been up to the job so far – and they will not get as many chances against Brazil.
My Brazil vs. Colombia Betting Pick
Brazil to Win-196
With the odds for a Brazil win so short, this selection is not really an attractive option for this game, but it doesn’t seem likely to finish any other way. Tite’s side has been too strong in the opening two games and should be able to see off Colombia as well.
It might be worth looking at the goals markets, though. With Brazil scoring so many against Venezuela and Peru, it might be the case that the odds will be higher for a low-scoring victory. Colombia will look to frustrate Neymar and company, though, and there might be a closer final scoreline than many expect.
