The 2020 MLB regular season will close down on Sunday, September 27, so I bring you the best Red Sox vs. Braves betting pick for their interleague showdown at Truist Park in Atlanta.

It’s a closing contest of a three-game set, and the Braves outlast the Red Sox 8-7 in a dramatic opener Friday night. Freddy Freeman hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th to lift his team over the Sawx, and we should see another exciting clash Sunday to wrap up the regular season.

Red Sox vs. Braves Odds

Red Sox +1.5 -155
Braves -1.5 +135
Red Sox to Win +135
Braves to Win -145
Over 10.0 +100
Under 10.0 -120

The Braves are -145 favorites, according to Bovada Sportsbook, as they might have something to play for here, while the Red Sox will finish the season as the worst team in the AL East. Atlanta was two games ahead of the Cubs on Saturday, so the Braves will almost certainly clinch the No. 2 seed in the National League.

Red Sox vs. Braves Preview

The Red Sox are playing in a relaxed manner, and they had a few good games over the last week. Excluding the middle contest of this series, Boston has scored 35 runs over its previous five outings.

The Sawx are tallying 4.74 runs per game (12th in the majors). Their batting average is the fourth-best in the MLB (.264), and the Red Sox will blame their pitching staff for a horrible season in general.

Boston allows 6.00 runs per contest, and that’s the most in baseball this year. The Red Sox owns the worst ERA of 5.75, too. They will start Nick Pivetta in the season finale, and the 27-year-old righty will look for his second straight win.

Pivetta is 1-0 with a 9.28 ERA in one start and three relief appearances this season. He tossed five strong innings in an 8-3 victory over Baltimore this past Tuesday, allowing just a run on four hits and three walks while punching out eight.

Bryse Wilson will get the starting nod for the Braves, and the 22-year-old righty is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA in one starts and four relief appearances in 2020. Wilson started in an 11-1 win over Miami last Tuesday, striking out seven in five scoreless innings.

The Braves enter this game as the best offensive team in the majors. They score a whopping 5.95 runs per contest. The Braves are second in batting average (.270) and first in slugging percentage (.488).

Red Sox vs. Braves Betting Pick

The Red Sox have been doing a good job offensively all season, and I expect them to finish it in strong fashion. On the other side, we have the most efficient team in baseball, so I’m betting on the over at +100 odds.

Both starting pitchers lack experience, and despite their good performance last time out, Nick Pivetta and Bryse Wilson could easily struggle in this one.

Furthermore, the Braves will certainly save their best arms for the postseason, while I’ve already mentioned how bad the Red Sox’ pitching staff has been all season. Therefore, I think these two interleague foes should combine for 11 or more runs.

Three of their first four matchups in 2020 produced at least 12 runs in total.
