Can anyone stop Man City from winning at the moment?

Remarkably, Pep Guardiola’s men head into the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie against Borussia Monchengladbach on an 18-game winning streak in all competitions.

Wednesday’s match will be played at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, due to European travel restrictions, meaning the German side can’t even enjoy home-field advantage in this tie.

I assess the bookmakers’ odds before sharing my Borussia Monchengladbach vs. Manchester City prediction and betting pick.

It is hardly surprising that Man City (1.29) heads to Hungary as the overwhelming favorite with all the leading online betting sites.

Of course, the price for the Gladbach win (9.50) would have been lower if Wednesday’s match was taking place in Germany. But on neutral soil, the EPL giant has a huge advantage over the German side.

There is never really a good time to face Guardiola’s Man City. But right now, it feels like Gladbach’s preparations have been less than ideal.

Following a run of four wins in five Bundesliga outings, the Foals have failed to win any of their previous four league games, suffering disappointing defeats to FC Koln and Mainz 05 along the way.

After looking like genuine title contenders earlier in the season, Marco Rose’s men now find themselves eighth in the German top-flight – 16 points behind Bayern Munich – with the worst defensive record in the top eight.

It goes without saying that Rose will be desperate for his players to end their substandard run of results. However, that will obviously be difficult against a rampant Man City outfit.

Not only have the Cityzens won each of their last 18 matches in all competitions, but they are also unbeaten in their previous 25 outings.

Guardiola’s men last tasted defeat all the way back in November. Since then, they have managed to record 22 wins and three draws – re-establishing themselves as England’s most feared team in the process.

Following a 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Sunday, Man City has now kept 13 clean sheets in their last 17 EPL games. The Cityzens haven’t been at their free-flowing best in attack, yet defenders like Ruben Dias and John Stones have kept things extremely tight at the other end of the pitch.

Guardiola’s men enjoyed an unbeaten Champions League group stage, claiming five wins and one draw en route to finishing three points clear at the top of Group C.

At this stage, it really does feel as though Man City has forgotten how to lose.

The mammoth odds for the Gladbach win and the draw will probably tempt a lot of people – and that is understandable. After all, the Champions League is completely different from Europe’s domestic leagues.

But given Man City’s seemingly unstoppable winning streak, I’m confident that Gladbach will become City’s latest victim on Wednesday. Let’s be real for a second – anything other than a Man City win would be a massive shock here.
