Betting Preview for the 2020 NASCAR Hollywood Casino 400

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs field has been trimmed to eight drivers for this Sunday’s Round of 8 opener at Kansas.

With four drivers dropping out of contention for the Bill France Cup, all attention moves to the Sunflower State.

Today’s task is to provide the details to help you bet on the Hollywood Casino 400. I’m going to do so by highlighting the hottest drivers ahead of the fourth remaining race of the 2020 season, but will also be giving you my pick for Sunday.

My top pick for last week’s race at the Charlotte Roval was Chase Elliott, and the Hendrick Motorsports star won in style. Elliott will be among the best bets for the Hollywood Casino 400, but will he be my choice for this weekend’s event?

I’m looking forward to revealing who I think wins the Hollywood Casino 400. But first, let’s look at the latest odds for Kansas.

2020 Hollywood Casino 400 Odds

A full list of odds for the Hollywood Casino 400 odds can be found on the BetOnline sportsbook.

I’ve covered the top 15 drivers above according to their odds and will start from the very top with last year’s winner, Denny Hamlin (+400).

Hamlin has won the last two Cup Series races at Kansas, making him a very attractive option ahead of Sunday’s race. He won the 2020 Super Start Batteries 400, and, of course, 2019’s Hollywood Casino 400.

Overall, he has an average finish of 14.50 from 25 starts at Kansas Speedway. His only other win on the track came back in 2012.

Thinking of betting on Kevin Harvick (+400) this Sunday? You could do worse.

Harvick is a two-time winner of this race, having taken the checkered flag here in 2016 and 2013. The Californian has nine wins this season and will be hoping to make it ten in Kansas.

Overall, he has three wins on the track with an average finish of 9.59 from 29 starts. He has also led for 315 laps since February 2017, which is the best return of any driver in the last seven races.

Chase Elliott (+500) is another driver that you should be looking at if you are betting on the Hollywood Casino 400.

Elliott won 2018’s edition of the race and finished 4nd and 2nd in both Kansas Speedway events in 2019. This season, he could only manage 12th at the Super Start Batteries 400, but there is no doubting his class. He has an average finish of 11.56 from nine starts at Kansas.

The odds for the Hollywood Casino 400 are pretty tight at the top, and Martin Truex Jr. (+500) is right up there with the big favorites.

Why? Well, Truex has only failed to finish outside of the top-6 just once in his last seven starts here. He won both races in 2017 and finished 3rd in July’s race at Kansas. He also finished as a runner-up in 2018’s KC Masterpiece 400, which has helped his average finish at Kansas to 13.42 from 24 races.

Brad Keselowski (+800) won 2011’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway, which remains his only victory here to date.

He has a couple of runner-up finishes, as well as a collection of top-6s and top-10s. One win, three top-5s, and four top-10s from his last seven races is a pretty good return and makes Keselowski a good bet for the Hollywood Casino 400 this Sunday.

Who wins the Hollywood Casino 400? Well, I think it’s gonna be a certain Mr. Harvick.

Why Kevin Harvick Wins

There is a lot of quality in the upper end of the field, but perhaps no one as impressive as Kevin Harvick.

The Californian is looking for win number ten on Sunday, and his previous two wins in this race shouldn’t do his confidence any trouble. As I covered earlier, Harvick has three wins in total at Kansas with an average finish of 9.59 from 29 starts. He has led for 315 laps since February 2017, which is solid.

From his last 48 races at intermediate tracks like Kansas, Harvick has nine wins, 29 top-5s, and 40 top-10s. They are great numbers which work out as an average finish of 8.00.

Harvick’s odds to win the 2020 Hollywood Casino 400 come in at +400, and I think they are about right. As such, I’ll take “The Closer” to make it to Victory Road this Sunday, just as he did in 2018.

I’m taking Kevin Harvick to win in Kansas this Sunday, October 18. But who have you got?
