Best Horse Racing Bets for Friday, October 30, 2020

The three tracks I chose to review for Friday’s races—Belmont Park, Churchill Downs, and Golden Gate Fields–proved to be a sort of underdog central, because six of the nine races I looked at abounded with second-and third-favored surprises.

Not only that, but I found a goodly number of longshots (three that were 20/1 or greater, and one 12/1 entry) that all qualified as good show ticket moneymakers.

In the three races I chose to review at Belmont Park, the yield was a satisfying couple of second-favored underdog contenders (races 1 and 9), as well as two likely long-odds show bets in race 7 and 9—and those were 20/1 and 30/1 longshots. Incidentally, it’s going to be very rainy in Elmont, New York, so the turf races will probably switch to the main track.

Churchill Downs was all about the underdogs, while I found only one longshot value bet (race 8). I found third-favored underdogs to back in races 8 and 9, and a second-favored entry in race 10 to round out the wagering at Churchill Downs.

Since it hit landfall in Louisiana Thursday, Hurricane Zeta has been downgraded to Tropical Storm Zeta, but that doesn’t stop it from pushing rain across the southeastern states, including Kentucky, so expect turf races to become main track races, and also expect a very sloppy main track.

I only found one probable underdog in the three richest races I reviewed at Golden Gate Fields for Friday—race four’s third-favored Arma d’Oro—the morning line has the colt at 4/1. In races 2 and 6, I stuck with the morning line’s predictions, although I did find a 12/1 bargain show bet in race 4.
