Best Horse Racing Bets for Tuesday, October 20, 2020

Of the nine races I reviewed for Tuesday from Indiana Grand Race Course, Parx Racing, and Thistledown Racino, I found a trifecta, two across-the-boards, and several longshots to make my bankroll happy.

Parx Racing was the surprise of the day–for the past several race-days, Parx has provided few opportunities for bargain show bets or underdogs at profitable morning lines, but today they offered up a trifecta, an across-the-board prospect, and a solid underdog moneymaker.

Thistledown may only have eight races scheduled, but they made up for that with some solid underdogs and a tasty across-the-board prospect.

And Indiana Grand offered up a solid 30/1 longshot as well as an underdog to root for in race 9.

I stuck with the morning line’s choices in races 5 and 7, but I found a third-favored underdog in race 9 that has a real chance. Plus, race 9 delivered a solid 30/1 longshot for a value show wager.

Parx had everything today except a good longshot, but I can forgive them because they had a second-favored prospect at 3/1 in race 6 that allowed me to build a profitable trifecta prediction for that race.

I then had to agree with the morning line for races 8 and 9 but I did find a good across-the-board wager in race 9 that made me smile.

Thistledown virtually bristled with underdogs, at least in race 4 (second-favored at 7/2) and race 5 (also at 7/2). I was forced to agree with the morning line in race 7 about the 8/5 favorite, but I did manage to find a modestly profitable 10/1 show bet in race 4, and a likewise modestly profitable across-the-board flyer in race 5.
