Best Horse Racing Bets for Thursday, January 7, 2021

I had such fun with Fair Grounds Race Course, Delta Downs, and Gulfstream Park yesterday that I’m sticking with them for my three tracks for Thursday’s richest races.

You’ll find plenty of underdog contenders as well as some longshots who are actually solid value show-bets.

I stuck by the morning line for races 5 and 7, but then I saw a real chance with the fourth-favored entry in race 8.

Not only that, but I found a great 20/1 longshot in race 5 for a show-ticket, as well as a 12/1 contender for a show payday in race 8.

I started out choosing the third-favored entry in race 2, then went with the second-favored Net a Bear in race 4, and by the time I hit race 8 I saw that I was going to have to agree with the morning line.

Along the way, though, I found a 15/1 and a 12/1 show ticket payday in races 2 and 4, respectively.

Incidentally, all three of the races I reviewed are on turf.

Gulfstream Park was a fount of good underdog prospects, with a second-favored horse in race 6 and a fourth-favored entry in race 9.  While I had to stick with the morning line’s favorite in race 8, I did find a 20/1 longshot worth a show ticket in race 9, so we have that going for us.
