Best Horse Racing Bets for Wednesday, January 27, 2021
I found lots of surprises at Gulfstream Park, Parx Racing, and Tampa Bay Downs — the three tracks I chose to review for Wednesday.
There were plenty of underdogs at both Parx and Tampa Bay Downs, and while Gulfstream Park was a bit remiss in that department, I did manage to find a sleeper there, hiding in a group of 8/1 forgettable.
And then there was that surprise across the board candidate I found at Tampa Bay Downs in a race where all I thought I’d find was a good value show bet prospect.
Read on for the summary of my horse racing picks and predictions for Wednesday, January 27, 2021.
Gulfstream Park Picks for Wednesday
- Race 4: Todaystheday 2/1 (win)
- Race 5: Cat Lady 6/1 (win, if starts)
- Race 5: Pat Pat Pat 3/1 (win, otherwise)
- Race 6: Sir Ollie 2/1 (win)
Gulfstream Park was quite stingy in the sleeper, underdog, and show-ticket moneymaker departments, but I did manage to find a possible 6/1 sleeper in race 5 — if the horse starts the race, that is. Otherwise, my recommendation is to back the morning line favorite, just like in races 4 and 6.

Wednesday Predictions for Parx Racing
- Race 2: Ain’t None Lucky 8/1 (win)
- Race 7: Mia Bella Rossa 5/1 (win)
- Race 9: Manolete 7/2 (win)
Parx might look as stingy as Gulfstream Park but hidden behind those win recommendations are two fourth-favored entries (races 2 and 7) and one third-favored entry (race 9). My choice to win race 2 is actually a sleeper hidden among three horses at 8/1 M/L odds.

My Wednesday Picks for Tampa Bay Downs
- Race 1: Insightful 9/2 (win)
- Race 5: Snap Hook 3/1 (win)
- Race 5: I’m Machen Too 30/1 (show/across the board)
- Race 9: Idle Time 3/1 (win, if starts)
- Race 9: Obiwan 7/2 (win, otherwise)
Tampa Bay Downs was a bit of a mixed bag, but I decided not to complain when Iooked at race 5 and found a 30/1 longshot that could actually cross the finish line in the money — perhaps even ahead of the rest of the field. Yes, it could happen.
Of course, I also found a fourth-favored entry in race 1 and even did a CYA pick of the second-favored entry in race 5, just in case that 30/1 longshot turned out to be a daydream.
