Best Horse Racing Bets for Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Of the three horse racing tracks I reviewed for our Wednesday wagering — Mahoning Valley Race Course, Parx Racing, and Tampa Bay Downs — it was Parx Racing that came through with the most surprises.

Even though the morning line’s picks prevail in many of my predictions for all three tracks, Parx delivered one underdog for a surprise win ticket — and two longer-odds entries for value show wagers.

Also, don’t forget that Tampa Bay Downs is hosting the much-postponed Turf Dash and Big City Stakes races — both Listed — and I include both of those in my review.

The three races I assessed for Parx Racing’s Wednesday offerings looked to be a tour de force for the morning line, but after bowing to the M/L in race 6 and 9, I discovered a second-favored underdog with a better chance to win than the morning line would have us believe.

Unfortunately, I found no value show bets worth the risk, but some days are like that. At least Parx appears to be running races again after too much winter for the past couple of weeks, so there’s that.

Tampa Bay Downs was all about the morning line for winners, and I found myself agreeing on probable first-place finishers in all three races I assessed for Wednesday.

However, I found a 20/1 longshot worthy of a show wager in race 7 — also known as the Turf Dash Stakes (Listed). And in race 9 — aka Lightning City Stakes (Listed) — I found a likely 15/1 value show ticket to tout.
