Best Horse Racing Bets for Saturday, December 5, 2020

| December 4, 2020 2:15 pm PDT

All three of the tracks I reviewed for Saturday brought something to the table, whether it be the four tightly contested stakes races at Aqueduct, the underdog and long-odds surprises of Laurel Park, or the seemingly unbeatable trio of morning line favorites at Tampa Bay Downs.

We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s get right to my horse racing picks, tips, and predictions for Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Good luck!

Aqueduct Racetrack Picks for Saturday

  • Race 4: Pickin’ Time 7/2 (win)
  • Race 6: Nonna Madeline 4/5 (win)
  • Race 9: Malathaat 4/5 (win)
  • Race 9: Celestial Cheetah 30/1 (show)
  • Race 10: Firenze Fire 5/2 (win)
  • Race 10: Snappy Sinclair 20/1 (show)

I reviewed all four stakes races at Aqueduct for Saturday and found a couple of underdogs as well as some bona fide longshots for some value show wagers.

I picked the third-favored entry in the Remsen Stakes (race 4), and the second-favored in the Grade I Cigar Mile Handicap (race 10), while in race 6 and 9 (the Go for Wand Handicap and the Demoiselle Stakes, respectively), I agreed with the morning line.

And in races 9 and 10, I found a 30/1 and a 20/1 longshot that ought to improve our profit margins substantially.

Saturday’s Picks for Tampa Bay Downs

  • Race 3: Poppy’s Pride 2/1 (win)
  • Race 3: Tapsasional 10/1 (show)
  • Race 9: Gulf Coast 7/2 (win)
  • Race 9: You Never Call 30/1 (show)
  • Race 10: South House 3/1 (win)

Tampa Bay Downs brings us two ungraded stakes races — the Inaugural Stakes and the Sandpiper Stakes — among its ten-race schedule for Saturday.

For the three races I chose to review (the stakes races and one other big-purse match), it was all about the morning line odds, about which I could not argue. Still, I found two long-odds moneymakers in race 3 and race 9 — one a substantial 30/1 prospect, the other a not quite as profitable 10/1. Still, profit is profit.

My Saturday Predictions for Laurel Park

  • Race 4: Parisian Diva 3/1 (win)
  • Race 4: Auldwood Lane 12/1 (show)
  • Race 7: Miss Nondescript 4/1 (win)
  • Race 7: Trip to Freedom 10/1 (show)
  • Race 8: Jaxon Traveler 4/5 (win)
  • Race 8: Latin Spice 20/1 (show)

Laurel Park was the most generous with the underdogs and the long-odds prospects, particularly in the two stakes races the park is featuring among its eight-race schedule: The Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship Stakes and the Maryland Juvenile Futurity.

I found third-favored underdogs in both race 4 and race 7 (the Juvenile Filly Championship), and there were 12/1 and 10/1 long-odds show bets in races 4 and 7, respectively, while I found a juicy 20/1 longshot in race 8, the Juvenile Futurity.
