Best Horse Racing Bets for Wednesday, December 16, 2020

| December 16, 2020 9:03 am PDT

While Fair Grounds Race Course gave us the widest range of underdogs, the other two tracks I reviewed — Parx Racing and Tampa Bay Downs — were very forthcoming with second and third-favored thoroughbreds that could very well make our bankrolls happy and fat.

Since we’ve got plenty to cover, let’s move on to my horse racing picks, tips, and predictions for Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Good luck!

Fair Grounds Race Course Picks for Wednesday

  • Race 2: Ragatagtag 9/2 (win)
  • Race 4: Queen of the Lane 5/2 (win)
  • Race 6: Epic 9/2 (win)

I went with the morning line’s fifth-favored entry in race 2 (at 9/2, which shows you how tight a race this will be). I agreed with the morning line in race 4, but then saw a secret Santa in the third-favored entry in race 6.

Alas, not a single long-odds entry in any of the three races I reviewed at Fair Grounds for Wednesday were impressive enough to risk a show bet.

Wednesday’s Tips and Picks for Parx Racing

  • Race 3: Vino y Queso 9/5 (win)
  • Race 3: Celestial Pride 15/1 (show)
  • Race 5: Knockout Kick 2/1 (win)
  • Race 9: Lady Munnings 4/1 (win)
  • Race 9: Congrats Answer 10/1 (show)

I agreed with the morning line about the probable winner of race 3, but called race 5 for the second-favored entry, and race 9 I gave to the third-favored (5/1) horse. I’m generous that way.

The real story at Parx was the two value show bets I found. As you’re probably noticing, I found very few show bets to tout today, so while neither of the two from Parx is going to make us rich (15/1 and 10/1), a profitable return is always welcome, right?

My Wednesday Predictions for Tampa Bay Downs

  • Race 2: Centrifuge 2/1 (win)
  • Race 5: High Five Cotton 3/1 (win)
  • Race 6: The Curt Fox 6/1 (win)
  • Race 6: Little Mazzy 20/1 (show)

I found an honest-to-gosh 20/1 longshot in race 6 at Tampa Bay Downs — one that is worth risking a value show bet, anyway. And I found a good mix of favorites and underdogs among the races I reviewed.

While I gave race 2 to the morning line favorite, race 5, I called for the second-favored, and the third-favored entry was my pick for race six.
