Best Esports Bets for Wednesday, August 26, 2020

| August 26, 2020 2:59 am PDT

The League of Legends scene is a bit barren right now but there’s still plenty of betting value to be had at the ongoing CS:GO and Dota 2 tournaments.

I have lined up predictions for several crunch matchups and they all come with the latest prices and the best markets to target.

So, without any further delay, let’s start my esports betting tips for Wednesday with a mouth-watering CS:GO derby and proceed with four more predictions.

FaZe vs. Vitality Over 2.5

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One: Cologne 2020 Summer – Europe
  • Starting time: 09:30 AM Pacific Time
  • Odds: -105

The last playoff spot at the ESL One: Cologne event will be going to either FaZe Clan or Team Vitality as the two top European forces lock horns in the late Lower Bracket semi-final.

And given the teams’ wobbly form since resuming action, I am most inclined to back a three-round game here.

FaZe started the event poorly against a strong Heroic side but improved to gun down Brazilians MIBR and keep their hopes alive.

New addition Kjaerbye has been decent so far but there is a lot more to come from the former Astralis player and it seems that the anchor role given him by captain NiKo suits him well for the time being.

Speaking of Astralis, Team Vitality had a shocker against them.

The Frenchmen were heavy favorites to win the match after turning on the style against Heretics in their opening matchup but were blasted by the Danes’ new-look roster on Nuke and Dust II.

Simply put, both FaZe and Vitality are far from their top form, and given the high stakes here, I believe we will witness a more cautious approach from them which usually results in lengthier bouts.

I don’t expect any risky buying or unorthodox rotations as the focus for these teams will be to get the basics right once again and build up a rhythm.

So, betting on the Over 2.5 market makers perfect sense for me and I have laid out a more detailed account of the teams and the reasoning behind this prediction over at my FaZe vs. Vitality betting pick post.

HellRaisers (-1.5) vs. B8

  • Game: Dota 2
  • Tournament: OMEGA League: Europe Divine Division
  • Starting time: 11:00 AM Pacific Time
  • Odds: -149

The schedule of the OMEGA League’s European Divine Division pins together Dota 2 teams HellRaisers and B8.

HellRaisers have upped their game lately and they will still have a chance to top their group if they come away with a solid win here.

The chances of this are huge since B8 has fallen heavily to every decent squad so far and the confidence of the group is at a critical low point.

Another 2:0 loss looks to be on the cards here and the odds of -149 are great given the circumstances.

My colleague Jerry Summer has rolled out a full HellRaisers vs. B8 betting preview for today so make sure you check it out if you want to learn more about the prediction and the teams’ current form.

Team Liquid (-1.5) vs. Cloud9

  • Game: CS:GO
  • Tournament: ESL One: Cologne 2020 Summer – North America
  • Starting time: 13:00 PM Pacific Time
  • Odds: -130

The last available playoff spot in the North American division of the ESL One: Cologne event will be decided between Team Liquid and Cloud9.

The American organizations already crossed paths in their group’s opening fixture with Liquid getting the best of their opponents in three rounds.

The Cloud has a history of upsetting the odds, however, I feel this tie will be too much for them.

They looked deflated against the struggling Triumph team and although players like floppy, motm, and oSee can be deadly on their day, the atmosphere within the team is simply not allowing them to shine right now.

There are many questions as to the effectiveness of captain JT’s tactics and Liquid has the firepower to benefit greatly from all the confusion in the Cloud9 camp.

Stewie2k and his squad did lose out on Overpass the last time around but it was a very tight contest and one that they should be able to win now that the pressure will be a lot higher.

The Cloud doesn’t function well in these games, while coach Moses has definitely improved Liquid on that front, so I’m going with a clean sweep for the favorites.

If you want to know more about why the -130 odds for the handicap win are the best option here, you can get the full picture in my Team Liquid vs. Cloud9 betting pick post by clicking here.

And now for the rest of my top esports predictions:

  • OG to win vs. MAD Lions; -189
  • FATE (-2.5) vs. AGF; +116

European forces OG and MAD Lions will clash in the early Lower Bracket Round 2 matchup at the CS:GO ESL One: Cologne event.

The Lions looked ready to crack the Top 10 bracket when they won the Flashpoint tournament back in April but losing coach HUNDEN and a couple of key players has hurt them badly.

Their recent results have been poor and although they are still in the tournament on account of a win against mousesports, they will find it very hard to break down OG’s defense here.

The Frenchmen are not exactly hitting top form right now either but have bags of experience in these situations and have a good chance to get two of their preferred maps.

They will surely wave Vertigo where MAD Lions have a 100% record in recent outings and even if they get a veto on Inferno, they will have a chance to pick from Train and Dust II and will more than fancy their chances on all the other of the Lions’ preferred maps.

Given that Aleksib and his teammates can be a bit shaky on the T side, I’m reluctant to use the handicap option here but the odds of -189 for an outright OG win still present great value.

And for my last CS:GO pick, I’m going with a solid win for Bulgarians FATE against AGF at the Malta Vibes Cup.

The Danes haven’t played since losing to FATE in the CSGOFAST Cup a month ago while their opponents have been steadily improving in August.

They still can’t quite get the best of higher-ranked opposition but recent outings against teams such as forZe and Espada have seen them put up solid displays that led them to a couple of map wins.

The momentum looks to be firmly on the side of niki1 and company and the Best of 1 format in which the match is going to be played means they will be no way for AGF to get their favorite maps Nuke and Inferno.

The Bulgarians have an advantage on all the remaining options so a bet on the -2.5 handicap line at +116 looks like a top offer.
