Best College Football Bets for October 10, 2020

| October 7, 2020 12:05 am PDT

Oklahoma and Texas are each coming off a devastating loss last Saturday in the Big 12. It’s hard to predict what’ll happen this weekend in the Red River Showdown, but I have no interest in touching that game.

On the flip side, there were a handful of matchups that caught my eye as I was surfing the selection. After a little bit of digging, three games stood in particular.

Let’s call them the best college football bets of the week.

Florida Gators (-6.5) -110

Dan Mullen guides the #4 team in the country into Kyle Field in search of a big SEC road win. Not only do I expect the Gators to pull it off, but look for them to get it done convincingly.

Tuscaloosa is undoubtedly one of the hardest places to place, but the Aggies defense struggled mightily last Saturday and made Mac Jones look like a superstar. Now Jimbo Fisher is tasked with trying to slow down the man Dennis Dodd has atop his current Heisman watch.

Not only has Kyle Trask thrown for 684 yards and tossed 10 touchdowns, but his 71.8% completion rate alludes to the good decisions he’s been making. Of course, it helps to have a 6’6” tight end who has been terrorizing defenders on a regular basis.

Coach Fisher couldn’t help but extol Kyle Pitts when asked about Florida’s TE, but he better get focused on trying to slow Pitts down. Otherwise, this Florida game could be the beginning of the end for Jimbo in College Station.

Boston College Eagles (+6) -105

Pittsburgh was riding high after a win over Louisville but they forgot to take care of business the following week against NC State. Or maybe the Panthers peaked versus the Cardinals and they aren’t as good as we thought.

Either way, Pat Narduzzi will have his hands full traversing into Chestnut Hill.

Boston College fought hard against the Tar Heels – easily covering the spread and refraining Sam Howell from beating them with deep passes. The staunch play from the Eagles secondary is one of the reasons why this is one of my best college football bets of the week.

Pittsburgh does most of their damage on the heels of Kenny Pickett throwing the long ball. Relying on running the football with Vincent Davis (3.4 ypc) is unlikely to work out Saturday at Alumni Stadium.

ESPN’s Football Power Index pegs BC to win this game outright 48% of the time, plus you can latch on to reduced juice if you head to BetOnline.

Florida International Panthers (-3.5) -118

After originally installing this line at FIU -6, most of the top college football betting sites have dropped this line to Florida International -4. However, SportsBetting.ag had the Panthers sitting as just a 3.5-point favorite as of late Tuesday afternoon.

I’d advise you to hop on it now.

FIU running back D’vonte Price was able to get loose in the opener versus Liberty (13-148-2), and a home game against Middle Tennessee is a great recipe to keep the mojo going. The Blue Raiders are surrendering 36.5 points per game and yielding more than 200 rushing yards per contest.

Averaging a paltry 16.5 points per game, MTSU is on the verge of going 0-5 on the season. One of college football’s best bets this week is to bank on Florida International not covering the spread at home.
