Belshina Bobruisk vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk – Belarusian Premier League, October 31, 2020

This rearranged game that was supposed to be played at the end of September brings together two sides with very different reasons for the need to win.

Belshina is looking to perform a great escape and stay in the Belarusian Premier League, while Shakhtyor is doing all it can to stay in the race for the title.

When MyBookie originally opened the market for this game back in September, the odds for a Belshina win were nearer the +900 mark. In the meantime, the Bobruisk has improved slightly and Shakhtyor’s form has dipped if anything. So it is surprising that the bookie has lengthened the gap between the two teams. That being said, this should still end in a win for the Soligorsk club.

Match Preview

It doesn’t help Belshina’s hopes of top flight safety that a number of the sides around it in the league have decided now is the perfect time to win a few games. But it does look as though the Bobruisk club has finished its mini revival, as there hasn’t been a win in three games now.

The games haven’t been easy for Belshina, but last week’s defeat to Dinamo Minsk put Belshina seven points from complete safety and four points away from Slutsk in the relegation playoff spot. The good news is that Slutsk is looking just about the worst team in the league at the moment – but Belshina does still need to pick up points of its own.

That wouldn’t seem too likely this Saturday though, as Shakhtyor attempts to give BATE, Neman and Dynamo Brest a fight for the league title. The impetus has left the Soligorsk club somewhat, but last week’s first half display away at Energetik-BGU was enough to win three valuable points.

Shakhtyor’s form has been patchy to say the least, but it does still have that game in hand over both BATE and Neman – and that could be crucial with only four games to go until the end of the season. It looks unlikely that it will win only its second ever Belarusian Premier League title now, but three points here would be a big help.

Belshina Bobruisk vs. Shakhtyor Soligorsk Pick

  • Shakhtyor Soligorsk to Win

Belshina’s brief attempt at climbing out of the bottom two or three now seems to have come to an end, so I don’t have much faith in this team to escape relegation – or to manage a win this Saturday. The odds for a Shakhtyor victory are not very attractive. But with such a good defensive record, the market for a win to nil could be worth it, if you can a bookie offering it.
