Bayern Munich vs. PSG – Champions League, April 7, 2021

| April 6, 2021 10:15 am PDT

PSG will aim to seek revenge for last season’s Champions League final loss when they face off against Bayern Munich in the 2020/21 UCL quarter-finals Wednesday, April 7.

Bayern claimed a 1-0 win over the French giant in Lisbon last time around, meaning the Parisians will be desperate to make amends when they visit Allianz Arena.

After checking out the odds for Bayern Munich vs. PSG, I will share my prediction and betting pick for the first leg.

Bayern Munich vs. PSG Odds

Bayern Munich to Win1.90
The Draw3.90
PSG to Win3.70

Bayern Munich (1.90) heads into the first leg as the home favorite with all the best online sports betting sites – and you can’t exactly argue with the bookmakers’ standpoint.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will obviously be eager to prove that they can compete with the top teams in Europe, but there is no denying that PSG (3.70) is the underdog here.

Analyzing Bayern Munich’s Form

Bayern Munich took a big step towards clinching a ninth consecutive Bundesliga title last weekend by seeing off RB Leipzig. Hansi Flick’s men haven’t had it all their own way this season, but the seven-point gap between them and Leipzig isn’t likely to be broken between now and the end of the campaign.

It is worth noting that the Bavarians have won each of their previous five Bundesliga games – scoring a whopping 17 goals along the way.

However, nine of those goals were scored by Robert Lewandowski. The deadly striker has netted an outrageous 42 goals in 36 appearances this term, so PSG will be grateful that he is currently sidelined through injury.

Bayern isn’t the same team without Lewandowski. There is no denying that. But Flick’s squad is still packed with world-class players. Thomas Muller has 13 goals and 18 assists to his name this term, while the likes of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane, and Kingsley Coman are capable of causing PSG serious damage.

The reigning European champions may be without their star man at the moment, but you’d be a fool to write them off.

Can PSG Upset the Odds?

The Parisians have injury problems of their own, too, with Juan Bernat, Alessandro Florenzi, Marco Verratti, Mauro Icardi, and Layvin Kurzawa all currently on the treatment table.

But with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar set to lead the line on Wednesday, Paris-Saint Germain stands a genuine chance of hurting the German champs in their own backyard.

Let’s not forget that Mbappe netted a hat-trick as PSG humiliated Barcelona at Camp Nou in the Round of 16. Pochettino’s side thrashed the Spanish giant 5-2 on aggregate, laying down a marker in the process.

Having lost three of their last six Ligue 1 games, the Parisians currently find themselves three points behind Lille in France’s top tier. But following UCL wins over Manchester United and RB Leipzig this term, it feels as though PSG is ready to fight for Europe’s biggest prize once again.

If Pochettino’s men can emulate their performance against Barcelona, they could cause Bayern plenty of problems.

Bayern Munich vs. PSG Betting Pick

  • The Draw

Soccer isn’t a one-man game; we all know that. But when Lewandowski is missing from the Bayern team, the Bavarians invariably struggles to hit the heights expected of them. With that in mind, the draw feels like the best bet for Bayern Munich vs. PSG.

In reality, the first leg could go either way. But the price for the home win doesn’t offer much value. In my eyes, backing the draw at 3.90 is the way to go here.
