The Baltimore Orioles head to Yankee Stadium in New York on Thursday night to open a four-game series against their divisional rivals. Last week, the Orioles stunned the Yankees in Baltimore, winning three straight games at Camden Yards.

The stake is enormous for both teams in this series. The Yankees were 21-21 on Wednesday, sitting at the third spot of the AL East standings and holding the bottom wild card. However, they were only half a game ahead of the Orioles.

Here, I bring you the best Orioles vs. Yankees betting pick along with the most important tips and trends.

Orioles vs. Yankees Odds

Orioles +1.5 +130
Yankees -1.5 -140
Orioles to Win +228
Yankees to Win -255
Over 8.5 -115
Under 8.5 -105

The Yankees have been playing in a terrible form lately, dropping seven of their previous eight contests excluding Thursday’s game against Toronto. On the other side, the O’s were riding a four-game win streak ahead of their Thursday’s clash with the Mets.

However, the Yankees opened as massive favorites in this one. They lost the last three games against Baltimore, but the Yankees are 17-3 over their previous 20 encounters with the Orioles.

Orioles vs. Yankees Preview

The Yankees will start Gerrit Cole, while the Orioles will counter with Keegan Akin. We saw this matchup last Saturday, and the O’s beat the Yankees 6-1.

Gerrit Cole fanned 10 in six innings of work, but he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits and four walks. It was his third straight defeat, and Cole allowed 14 earned runs and 17 hits over his previous three starts. Gerrit is 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in nine starts this season.

The Bombers still miss Aaron Judge, Gio Urshela, and Giancarlo Stanton due to injuries. They score 4.64 runs per game (18th in the MLB) which are below the league average and certainly below the Yankees’ standard.

The Orioles, on the other side, are tallying 4.95 runs per contest (9th). They have the seventh-best batting average (.264) and the eighth-best slugging percentage (.450).

Rookie Keegan Akin will get his third start of the season, and the lefty has a 2.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in four appearances. He tossed 5.1 innings in a no-decision against the Bombers last Saturday, allowing just three hits and four free passes while punching out eight.

The Yankees are just 3-6 against the lefties in 2020. The O’s are 16-18 versus the right-handed starters this term.

Orioles vs. Yankees Pick

The Yankees’ offense is quite short-handed, but I expect to see a much better performance against Keegan Akin in this one than they did last weekend. Still, the key factor will be Gerrit Cole. The three-time All-Star has to break out of his funk if he wants to reach the playoffs in his first season with the Yankees.

I think three straight defeats are too much for Gerrit Cole, and the fourth would be simply ridiculous. He needs to prove his worth after signing a nine-year deal worth $324 million. That’s why I’m backing the Yankees to win and cover, but it won’t be an easy task against the in-form O’s, for sure.
