Game 6 Pick and Prediction for Avalanche vs. Blues – May 27th (2022)

| May 27, 2022 8:57 am PDT

The Blues were able to force Game 6 after a thrilling overtime comeback in Game 5. They were down 3-0 and on the road, but they outscored Colorado 5-2 in the last 2 periods (plus overtime) to get the win.

It was a remarkable comeback and kept the Blues alive in this year’s playoffs. Now that they were able to win such a tough game, they are rewarded with Game 6 being on their home ice. Is all the momentum shifting in their favor to even up the series and force Game 7?

Let’s take a look at Friday’s Avalanche vs. Blues odds to see which team we should be betting on to win.

The Avalanche vs. Blues odds for Game 6 are again favoring Colorado despite being on the road. This isn’t a huge surprise considering that they should be the better team.

St. Louis’ huge comeback in the last game was actually an example of that. If you need some incredible comeback to win a game like that, it probably means you had a very high chance of losing in the first place.

I doubt Colorado takes the foot off the gas moving forward considering Game 5’s result. They’ve been a great team over the last couple of years, so it’s time they start to prove it in big moments.

The Avalanche have actually been favored to win every game in this series. St. Louis hasn’t let that get them down though, winning two games themselves and covering the puck line in 3 out of 5.

The over/under for this game is also set at 6.5. 5 goals were scored in Games 1 and 2, but the over has hit in the last three. Now that these teams are very familiar with each other, they’ve been able to have some offensive success.

Avalanche vs. Blues Game 6 Matchup Preview

Before we make our Avalanche vs. Blues predictions for Game 6, let’s breakdown the matchup again a little more.

Here’s how the series has played out so far;

  • Game 1: Colorado Wins in OT (3-2)
  • Game 2: St. Louis Wins (4-1)
  • Game 3: Colorado Wins (5-2)
  • Game 4: Colorado Wins (6-3)
  • Game 5: St. Louis Wins in OT (5-4)

So after the first 5 games, the Avalanche are up 3-2 and have outscored the Blues 19-16. It’s been a very fair fight and exciting series, which means this Game 6 is going to be very important.

Edmonton has already won their series against the Flames, so they’ll get some rest before they face the winner of this series.

Colorado could have a chance to end it here, but Game 7 would be on Sunday if the Blues can pull it off.

This game is going to be on St. Louis’ home ice, but they lost the first two home games in this series already. The Blues were able to outshoot the Avs in Games 2 and 3, but Colorado has more total shots in the series. Sometimes more shot convert into more goals and other times it doesn’t.

Ville Husso has been a bit up and down in this year’s playoffs, but he needs to have a good game if the Blues want to have a chance at winning.

As for the Avalanche, they can’t let their foot off the gas in this one. They had a commanding 3-0 lead early in the second period, but fell apart after that.

They are very capable of winning this game, but they haven’t been able to get over the hump in recent Stanley Cup playoffs.

Avalanche vs. Blues Game 6 Pick on 5/27/2022

  • Over 6.5

For my Avalanche vs. Blues Game 6 pick, I am going to have to go with the over. I do think that Colorado is a strong bet to win this game, but the over looks more appealing with better odds as well.

The last 3 games have really picked up the pace in the scoring department. The unders hit in Games 1 and 2, but then the totals were 7, 9, and 9 in the last three games. Games 3 and 4 were also in St. Louis and they both went over as well.

Game 7 is always amazing to watch, so it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for the Blues to win. Go ahead and roll the dice on their underdog moneyline or +1.5 puck line (-165) if you are just going to root for Game 7.

Nathan McKinnon dropped a hat trick in the last game after not registering a goal in the first 4 games of the series. If he stays hot, the over and Colorado’s moneyline should have high chances of hitting.
