The gauntlet known as the SEC West is where only the strongest survive. Ole Miss is chasing Alabama, but the teams behind them are still Top 25 squads. The division is near the top with their juggernaut offenses, but there is plenty of football remaining.

Auburn is coming off a monumental win at home over Ole Miss, but there are no walks in the park in the conference of championships. We have seen the Tigers upset Top 10 foes before, but they will have their work cut out for them at Kyle Field.

Texas A&M has been on fire, playing as their September Top 10 status suggested. Coming off a bye week, they are well-rested and can win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

The Aggies will be busy with an Auburn squad that has been a challenge to knock off. AUB-TAMU will be a highly entertaining SEC West tussle that will determine their bowl destinations.

Why Auburn Will Win

Bo Nix has been able to put together some great performances over the years in the SEC. The ability to extend plays with his feet and carry the offense has been a storyline for years.

The fact that he has meant everything for them has been apparent over the years. They need more pieces around him to step up. The following youngsters will need to step up in their passing attack.

  • Demetris Robertson
  • Kobe Hudson
  • Shedrick Jackson
  • Ze’Vian Capers

Taking care of the football is vital, but getting Tank Bigsby going in the backfield. Jarquez Hunter and Bigsby have combined for over 1,000 yards on the season.

They have a solid offensive line, and the health status of Bigsby has been an issue the past two seasons. As long as these two were in the backfield, Auburn could play keep away and win the battle at the line of scrimmage.

Wreaking havoc in the backfield against Zach Calzada will be vital. If they cannot control the battle in the trenches, they will find a way to come out victorious in the end. They have plenty of fourth-quarter magic this season, so keeping it close will give them that opportunity.

Why Texas A&M Will Win

Jimbo Fisher knocked off Auburn to win the final BCS National Championship with Florida State. It may not all be roses for the Aggies, but they have been playing like a Top 10 in the past few weeks.

Already with two losses, they have a lot to play for in the SEC at the moment. They could keep their name in the running for a New Year’s Six bid. A trip to Florida for the Outback or Citrus Bowl is likely as well.

Coming off a bye, the Aggies are the fresher team that will be ready to go. Their ability to run the football has allowed them to open things up in their passing game.

Calzada has three or four future NFL players by his side. Tight end Jalen Wydermyer is an absolute beast that can haul in anything thrown his way. The size and ability to bounce off tacklers will allow the chains to be moving in this matchup.

The gauntlet of a schedule the Aggies have seen is brutal. It is what makes their journey among the top ones in the country.

  • L to No. 16 Arkansas, 20-10 (neutral)
  • L to Mississippi State, 26-22 (home)
  • W to No. 1 Alabama, 41-38 (home)
  • Vs. No. 12 Auburn (Top 25)
  • At Ole Miss (Top 25)

The flashy running back that has been able to matriculate the ball down the field has been Devon Achane. Smith can tote it out of the backfield, and he has caught the ball out of the flats. Achane went off in the Orange Bowl last season and has picked up where he has left off.

Ainias Smith is another star that can make defenders miss in the open field. The speed on the field for A&M is the best they have had since Johnny Manziel. Texas A&M is getting closer to the Top 10, and they are getting it done on both sides of the ball.

Defensive end star DeMarvin Leal has been pinning his ears back and harassing the opposition with ease. They have a capable secondary loaded with athletes that bring plenty of length to the table.

Auburn vs. Texas A&M Prediction

This SEC battle is likely to come down to the wire. The team that controls the line of scrimmage will find a way to win the clash. Auburn dominated the Rebels at the point of attack, but it will be more challenging against the Aggies.

Kyle Field is a place for thrilling finishes. We all saw Alabama get upset against the Aggies this season, and Florida was one last year.

The ability to take care of the ball should be the difference for the Aggies. They have been the better defensive squad, and home cooking will allow them to get the win.

Auburn vs. Texas A&M Pick

This game could have several lead changes, but the Aggies are fresh, and Auburn is coming off a closely contested matchup against Ole Miss. The stress and pressure of winning in the SEC are legitimate, but Jimbo has things rolling right now.
