Diego Simeone’s side was surprisingly weak on offense following six goals against Granada and will be looking to get back into the scoresheet on Saturday.

Villarreal, on the other hand, played all four games thus far and recorded two victories, including the latest one over Alaves at home, along with a draw and a heavy 4-0 loss to Barcelona on the road. The Yellow Submarine reinforced this summer and set their sights on the Champions League next year, so this season will be quite important for Unai Emery’s team.

Prior to this LaLiga duel, Atletico Madrid scored precisely twice in one half in a 58.33% (seven) of their previous 12 league home victories. Unai Emery cannot count on Francis Coquelin (thigh), Ramiro Guerra (knee), Alberto Moreno (knee), and Ruben Pena (muscle). Sofian Chakla (muscle) and Alfonso Pedraza (muscle) are questionable to feature on Saturday.

Villarreal won four of the previous ten H2H encounters (D4, L2), but Atletico Madrid won two of the last three meetings. Los Colchoneros also won two of the past three duels at Wanda Metropolitano, but Villarreal failed to find the back of the net on only two out of the last eight H2H clashes.

That being said, I am backing the visitors and red-hot Paco Alcacer and Gerard Moreno (three goals apiece) to score at least one goal here. I am going with both teams to score, the feature that occurred in four of the previous six H2Hs.
