Atlanta United vs. Orlando City – MLS, October 7, 2020
Orlando will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten record against Atlanta this year when the two sides clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday, October 7. The teams have already faced each other twice this season, with the Lions claiming a win and a draw.
Third-place Orlando is a whopping 12 points ahead of struggling Atlanta in the Eastern Conference and only two points behind frontrunners Columbus Crew and Toronto FC.

Atlanta United vs. Orlando City Odds
As you can see, the leading online betting sites view Orlando as the favorite to win this game, although the odds are much tighter than I expected them to be.
The 12-point gulf between Orlando and Atlanta underlines the Lions’ superiority at the moment. However, the bookies probably think the Five Stripes’ home advantage gives them a chance of getting something from this clash.
The Five Stripes finally looked like their old selves on Sunday as they hammered DC United 4-0. A Jon Gallagher double, along with goals from Brooks Lennon and Adam Jahn, handed Atlanta a much-needed victory. But the Georgia club’s problems are far from over.
Atlanta has managed to win just five of their 15 games this season and only sits six points ahead of bottom-club DC. Stephan Glass’ men are 14 points off the pace in the Eastern Conference, meaning they may have to go through the play-offs just to reach the final series.
The Five Stripes’ defense has been relatively solid, but scoring goals has been a massive problem this term. With star forward Josef Martinez out with a lengthy injury and Erick Torres recently joining Martinez on the sidelines, only five teams in the division have netted fewer goals than Atlanta.
By contrast, the Lions are the top scorers in the Eastern Conference. Chris Mueller, Benji Michel, and Daryl Dike each have four regular-season goals to their name, while Junior Urso and Nani have both chipped in with three.
After making it all the way to the final of the MLS is Back Tournament, Orlando has only lost one of their previous ten games. Oscar Pareja’s side has secured four wins in their last five outings and comes into this clash on the back of a strong 3-1 victory over New York Red Bulls.
If Pareja’s men continue to shine at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta will find it very hard to stop Orlando.
Atlanta United vs. Orlando City Pick
Orlando City to Win2.40
It is no secret that these two teams have been moving in opposite directions lately. Atlanta has been sliding down the standings for much of the season, while the Lions have continued to establish themselves as a genuine force in MLS.
In all honesty, I can’t see Orlando losing this game. Yes, Atlanta thrashed DC last time out. But the Five Stripes haven’t troubled many teams this term. I’m expecting Orlando to clinch their fifth with in six games on Wednesday.
