Atlanta Braves vs. New York Yankees Pick – August 12, 2020

| August 12, 2020 10:49 am PDT

A solid outing from Jordan Montgomery and a little help from Aaron Judge propelled New York past Atlanta on Tuesday night.

Heading into Wednesday’s matchup in the Big Apple, both teams are seeking their 12th victory of the season.

Let’s see what’s on tap in this Braves vs. Yankees prediction.

Braves vs. Yankees Odds

Braves (+1.5) -107
Yankees (-1.5) -113
Braves to Win +175
Yankees to Win -190
Over 9.5 -105
Under 9.5 -115

You can’t blame the top MLB sportsbooks for installing the Yankees as a -190 favorite to win tonight’s game versus the Braves.

For starters, Aaron Boone’s club is 5-1 in at Yankee Stadium in 2020 while the Braves are just 4-6 on the road. Secondly, Atlanta starter Huascar Ynoa is likely to be restricted to 3-4 innings placing the burden on the Braves bullpen.

On the flip side, Masahiro Tanaka takes the hill for NY looking to build on what was a stellar performance against the Rays. This past Friday in Tampa Bay the 31-year-old right-hander tossed five scoreless innings allowing just one hit while striking out five.

Braves vs. Yankees Betting Preview

Things aren’t setting up well for Atlanta on paper. Ozzie Albies has been out with a bone contusion on his right wrist and now the word on the street is that Ronald Acuna Jr.’s left wrist injury might be worse than initially thought. Acuna Jr. won’t play Wednesday night leaving a major void at the top of Brian Snitker’s lineup.

On the flip side, the Yankees are doing just fine despite Giancarlo Stanton’s absence.

Aaron Jude is mashing, D.J. LeMahieu is batting .400, and Aaron Boone is super excited about the way tonight’s starting pitcher is throwing the baseball.

“Tanka’s stuff looks great. I mean, he’s thrown the ball really well: the splitter has been good, the life on the fastball has been excellent [and] that continued fell of his breaking ball. I feel like he’s incredibly sharp right now and the stuff is coming out really good.”

It’s not impossible for Atlanta to emerge in tonight’s contest, but the odds are certainly stacked up against them.

Braves vs. Yankees Pick

As easy as it would be to back New York in this Braves vs. Yankees prediction, I think the best bet of the game is to hammer the over at the reduced juice BetOnline is offering.

The Bronx Bombers are averaging nearly 7 runs per game at home while the Braves clock in at 5.3 runs/game on the road. But more than that, it’s hard to imagine Tanaka duplicating his performance from last time out. Masahiro might not fall flat on his face, but expecting him to get out of this one unscathed seems a little too ambitious.

Atlanta is trying to avoid their third straight loss and will be fighting tooth and nail to stay in this game, plus their batters are in a good rhythm averaging 6.8 runs per game over their four.

We know New York’s offense is capable of dropping a 10-spot on their own at the drop of a hat – giving us all sorts of ways for this game to go over.
