The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets will wrap up their regular-season series Sunday at Citi Field in New York. It’s the third contest of a three-game set in the Big Apple, and the Braves humiliated the Mets in the opener Friday, beating them 15-2.

Ahead of Saturday’s clash, the Braves were topping the NL East with a 30-21 record, seven games ahead of the 23-28 Mets. New York was 3.5 games behind the second-placed Marlins, but the Mets were only 2.5 games behind the wild-card spot in the National League, so their playoff hopes were still alive.

I bring you the best Braves vs. Mets betting pick for their ultimate 2020 regular-season matchup along with the latest odds and all the key tips and notes, so let’s take a closer look.

Braves vs. Mets Odds

Braves +1.5 -195
Mets -1.5 +175
Braves to Win +101
Mets to Win -111
Over 9.5 -120
Under 9.5 +100

Sunday brings my favorite right-handed pitcher, Rick Porcello, who’ll take the mound for the hosts. And when I say favorite, I mean Porcello is my guy to take the over on the totals whenever and wherever he tosses the ball.

The Mets are slight favorites, but the bookies are well aware that this should be a very tight contest.

Braves vs. Mets Preview

The Braves will start Kyle Wright for the seventh time this season, and the 24-year-old righty is 1-4 with a terrible 7.20 ERA and 2.08 WHIP across 25 innings. He’s yielded 15 earned runs on 23 hits over his last four appearances.

Wright met the Mets on August 2 and tossed 3.1 shutout innings, but he did allow five hits and four free passes while punching out five.

On the other side, Rick Porcello is 1-5 in 10 starts this term. He owns a 6.06 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 49 innings of work, and Rick has surrendered nine earned runs on 16 hits over his previous two starts.

Porcello met the Braves twice in 2020 and went 0-1 while lasting for only six innings combined. He’s allowed nine earned runs on 12 hits and six walks to the Braves in those two matchups.

The Braves are leading the MLB in runs scored per game (5.90) and RBI (294), and they hit the second-most round-trippers (90). Their batting average of .271 is the second-best in baseball, right behind the Mets’ .277.

New York is scoring 4.98 runs per game (9th), and the Mets hit 71 home runs (11th).

Braves vs. Mets Betting Pick

The Braves are 6-2 against the Mets in 2020 excluding the middle game of this series, while half of those eight contests went in the over. However, the Braves have scored in double figures three times in that span, and the Mets have done it once in a 11-10 defeat at Atlanta.

Both Sunday’s starting pitchers should have a terrible day in the office, considering the strength of the Braves and Mets’ offense. I have to mention that the under is 6-2 in Rick Porcello’s last eight starts, but both his starts against the Braves went in the over.

Atlanta has had some ridiculous displays over the last few weeks including a 29-9 victory over the Marlins, so betting on the over in this one seems like a logical choice.
