Atalanta vs. Inter – Serie A, November 8, 2020

Atalanta suffered a devastating 5-0 home loss to Liverpool in the Champions League, the third in the last six games. It was the first time the Goddess failed to find the back of the met since a 2-0 defeat to Inter in August. After losing to Sampdoria in Serie A, Atalanta bounced back with a 2-1 road win over Crotone in the previous Serie A round. They are in 4th position with 12 points after six games.

Inter, on the other hand, is struggling early in the season as they managed to record just one win in the last seven matches in all competitions. The Nerazzurri are without a win in three games of the Champions League, and following the latest 3-2 loss to Real Madrid, their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage diminished. Inter barely saved a point in the recent Serie A duel with Parma at home, as they came from 2-0 behind to snatch a late draw. Antonio Conte’s side is 6th in the table with 11 points.

Here is my Atalanta vs. Inter betting prediction and check the latest news, stats, and H2H record along the way.

Atalanta Team News and Stats

A 5-0 midweek loss in the Champions League action made it just one victory in the previous four competitive games for Atalanta (D1, L2), with La Dea trailing at halftime to-nil on three occasions. Expect a lot of action here, as eight of Atalanta’s nine matches have produced over 3.5 game goals, with the last three providing over 1.5 before the interval.

Atalanta is also without a win in three home games (D1, L2), trailing at the break to-nil in all. Each of their four matches at Gewiss Stadium in this campaign has featured over 3.5 goals, with two producing a minimum of five. Furthermore, each of those three games won/lost has seen a winning difference of at least two goals.

Gian Piero Gasperini will be without Mattia Caldara (Achilles tendon), Marco Carnesecchi (illness), Marten de Roon (groin), and Robin Gosens (calf).

Inter Team News and Stats

Continuing the goals theme, seven of Inter’s nine games in this campaign have produced goals on both ends, with six featuring over 2.5 match goals. However, Inter lost their UCL match on Tuesday against Real Madrid 3-2, and have thus won only one of their last seven contests (W1, D4, L2).

The visitors have, on the other side, won four of their previous five Serie A away games, including the latest H2H at this venue (2-0). Quick starters, Inter opened the scoring in each of those five matches, doing twice in the very first minute – including the H2H here. Consequently, the visitors were leading at the interval on four occasions (HT: W4, D1).

Antonio Conte cannot count on Romelu Lukaku (thigh), Stefano Sensi (muscle), and Matias Vecino (knee).

Atalanta vs. Inter Pick

  • BTTS YES & Over 2.5 Goals

Inter won four of the previous ten H2H encounters (D4, L2), and is without a loss in the last three (W1, D2), while Atalanta was victorious in two of the past four meetings at Gewiss Stadium (D1, L1). Although four of the last six H2Hs failed to produce goals on both ends, I am going with this season’s trends and that’s why I expect to see a bunch of goals in this one.

Inter scored four and conceded five in the last two matches, while Atalanta’s games are always interesting and are providing a lot of goals, so I am sure we will have an exciting matchup.
