Astralis vs. NiP Pick – Tuesday, September 15th, 2020

| September 15, 2020 1:49 am PDT

Astralis will be taking on Ninjas in Pyjamas once again as the European CS:GO forces go head-to-head in the fifth round of Group B at the ESL Pro League Season 12 event.

The Danes are in a far better position while their opponents will have to dig deep after a poor start has seen their playoff hopes shrink fast.

So, what would be the best way to approach the betting angle in this latest Scandinavian derby?

I try to answer this question by sharing the latest odds for the main markets and providing an overview of these organizations’ most recent exploits.

You will also find a prediction and my Astralis vs. NiP betting pick in the end.

NiP +172

NiP (+1.5) -175

Total Maps Played

Under 2.5 -145

It’s no surprise that Astralis is the firm favorite after the run they’ve put together so far but is backing them the real value option here?

Let’s proceed to my team analysis and then I lay out my final verdict.

Team Astralis

Despite losing the first game after captain gla1ve’s return, having their in-game leader back has definitely injected some confidence in this group.

The team is looking more and more like its old self and we should also congratulate the new pieces es3tag and Bubzkji for quickly adapting to the organization’s style and producing some very solid performances.

Astralis is on a three-game winning run right now after impressively gunning down FaZe Clan and Vitality and overcoming mousesports in their most recent fixture.

There are still lots of things to work on but the organization will feel like they’re slowly stopping the downward spiral.

Facing the Ninjas is always a big test, so let’s see if device, gla1ve, and the others can carry on with their positive run.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

After several inspired performances at the ESL One: Cologne event, NiP hasn’t quite been able to replicate the same form in the current tournament.

Vitality and Complexity proved too much for them in the opening rounds and despite a solid display against mousesports, captain hampus and his teammates completely dropped the ball against Team Spirit in the fourth round.

This has glued the Swedes to the bottom of the table and they will need to react fast if they don’t want to pack their bags early.

Recent performances against Astralis will definitely help mobilize the troops but their tactics and execution will need to be flawless to clinch another win here.

Astralis vs. NiP Prediction and Pick

Astralis’ run looks great on paper but a detailed look at their performances reveals that not everything is going smoothly for the Danes.

There are still some odd individual errors and while device and gla1ve have been able to compensate for those, it will probably not last long.

The Ninjas are pressed against the wall and their tactics have been able to stifle Astralis in the last two games between the teams.

Furthermore, despite losing three of their fixtures so far, NiP has clinched at least a map in all of their outings except against Complexity where they came really close on Nuke.

Given how high the stakes are for the Swedes, I’m backing them to up the ante here which should see them take a round against Astralis once again.

I’m reluctant to back them for an outright win but the Over 2.5 market also presents great value given how probable it is for this tie to go to a decisive third map.

  • Over 2.5

That would be my final Astralis vs. NiP pick but we have a couple of more predictions lined up so be sure to check them out if you’re looking to place more wagers:
