Aston Villa vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Betting Preview – EPL, March 6, 2021

Villa continues to find life difficult without influential captain and playmaker Jack Grealish. The results have been nowhere near as consistent since the beginning of the year.
Now Villa entertains a Wolves side that has improved slightly in the last few weeks but may still be a little deflated after a big defeat to Manchester City in the week.
Aston Villa vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Odds
There is very little to choose between these two sides, and BetOnline has priced this game very evenly, affording Villa the favorites tag purely because of home-field advantage. A fit Grealish would definitely swing these odds, but in his absence, the draw bet looks like offering the most value.
Aston Villa vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Analysis
Aston Villa became only the fourth Premier League club to lose to Sheffield United on Wednesday – and even benefitted from a numerical advantage for the last half hour without being able to overcome the basement side. As much as that result will have disappointed Dean Smith, the Villa manager will still feel as though his players can beat Wolves on Saturday.
Villa had the majority of the chances in that game but could not find a way past the Blades keeper. It was a fixture that looked like a good chance for the West Midlands club to catch up with some of the teams above it in the table. But it might well end up being the point when Villa’s outside chance of European qualification evaporated.
Wolves have not been anywhere near the European places this season – unlike previous campaigns – but enjoyed an excellent unbeaten February. There was also further good news that star striker Raul Jimenez resumed training after fracturing his skull earlier in the season.
It looked like things would get even better on Tuesday when Wolves had managed to get to 80 minutes of its game against Manchester City with a 1-1 scoreline. A frantic rearguard action had got Wolves that far, but a flurry of goals in the final minutes for the home side meant the final result was 4-1. That will not have overly disappointed Nun Espirito Santo, but he will be hoping for more this weekend.
Aston Villa vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers Prediction and Pick
-
The Draw+215
Jack Grealish is such a good player that I think this game would have much more of a chance of finishing in a home win if he was available. But his injury means that he will probably miss out – giving Wolves a much better chance of getting something from the fixture. An away win would seem too much of an ask, but a draw could be on the cards.
