Arsenal vs. Leicester City – EPL, October 25, 2020
Two of the top five meet on Sunday, as Arsenal welcome Leicester City to north London hoping that it can keep the points and overtake its opponents in the table.
Leicester has had a mixed bag of a season so far but will be happier if Jamie Vardy can return to the starting line up after missing the last game through injury.
Arsenal vs. Leicester City Odds
Considering these two are tied on nine points after five games, BetOnline’s pricing of this one is a little surprising. I would have the odds much closer – even with Arsenal playing at home. If Vardy is available for the Foxes then this could be a well-fought contest and the odds for a draw or even a Leicester win look attractive.
Arsenal vs. Leicester City Match Preview
Arsenal only lost by one goal last week to Manchester City but the Gunners were never really in danger of taking anything from the game. It was not as though Arsenal was outclassed – it was just very much second-best on the day. It does look like that might be the case for the season for Mikel Arteta’s side, finding it difficult to overcome the very best sides.
Arsenal has to be considered as one of the better teams in the Premier League but I don’t think it can really compete with the sides that are realistically challenging for the title. Arteta should count himself very happy if his team is competing for the top four around the end of the season.
But that is around the same level as Leicester – so Sunday’s game is one to look forward to. Brendan Rodgers still has a number of injuries in his defensive line, but it does seem that Jamie Vardy may be able to take some part in the proceedings. Leicester definitely missed him last week when it lost to Aston Villa.
Villa has improved markedly since last year but the result does mean that Leicester has now lost back-to-back games – both at home – and the goals of the first three games of the campaign have completely dried up. Leicester still relies far too much on Vardy to find the net and he will need to be back to his brightest quickly if his side is to get anything from this one.
Arsenal vs. Leicester City Pick
Arsenal can now rely on Thomas Partey to give it some much-needed steel in the middle, as well as another outlet of creativity. But there are still some weaknesses in the team that Arteta is yet to deal with. Leicester might be able to exploit that on Sunday and could come away from the Emirates with a point.
