Arsenal’s win at Old Trafford looks to have inspired MyBookie to make the Gunners odds on favorites on Sunday and, with Villa starting to lose a few games, it is probably the right way to go. Villa has already surprised a few teams this season though, so this is not a foregone conclusion by a long way.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa Match Preview

Arsenal won at Old Trafford for the first time in 14 years on Sunday and ended a month without a win in the league. It was a very good performance from the Gunners who played as a team and went at United right from the start of the game, fully deserving the one-goal win in the end.

Mikel Arteta’s side had not achieved the results against the big teams this season so far, so that victory should give the players more confidence in their endeavors. Thomas Partey has been a big difference to the way Arsenal looks in the middle of the pitch and he will probably be at the center of everything once again on Sunday.

Villa manager Dean Smith will have to work out a way to stop Partey being so influential. But it is not as if he doesn’t have some gifted midfielders of his own. Jack Grealish is the obvious example, but Ross Barkley has reclaimed the form he showed at Everton and is enjoying his soccer again now.

Although Villa showed that it was a different side to last year with the 7-2 humiliation of Liverpool, it is noticeable that without those seven goals, it would find only the bottom four clubs having a worse scoring record. More goals are needed, but there may not be too many chances against Arsenal this weekend.

Arsenal vs. Aston Villa Pick

  • Arsenal to Win

Mikel Arteta had looked like he had finally gotten his team to get results once again. But the addition of Thomas Partey has provided another dimension to its play. He was the lynchpin in the middle against Manchester United last weekend and should prove to be the difference in another win against Villa on Sunday.
