Arizona State Sun Devils vs. USC Trojans – College Football, November 7, 2020
ASU and USC kick off their 2020 season in an early morning showdown Saturday at the Coliseum. Clay Helton returns to the helm for the Trojans despite rumors that he would be fired, while Herm Edwards enters his third season captaining the ship in Tempe.
With two exciting quarterbacks on deck, it should be a fascinating matchup.
Let’s dive into an Arizona State vs. USC prediction.
Arizona State vs. USC Odds
Bouncing around between 10.5/11 points, the Trojans are a clear-cut favorite in this opening Pac-12 battle. USC figures to have the more explosive group on offense, although don’t balk at the idea that ASU’s Jayden Daniels is one of the top QBs in this conference.
Southern Cal went an even 6-6-1 against the spread in 2019. Arizona State finished the year 5-7-1 ATS.

Jayden McDaniels has a chance to be a stud. The rising sophomore is a lot more than just an exciting dual-threat quarterback – he happened to be among the least turnover-prone signal-callers in the country as a true freshman.
His top RB and top WR have both moved onto playing on Sundays, but wideout Frank Darby is oozing with all sorts of big-play potential. Darby hauled in just 31 passes a season ago, but 8 of them went for touchdowns and he posted a mammoth 19.9 yards/catch average.
With Zak Hill (Boise State OC 2016-2019) coming on to serve as Herm’s offensive coordinator, look for the Sun Devils offense to take a big step in 2020. With that being said, who else besides Darby steps up to fill the void from losing Eno Benjamin and Brandon Aiyuk is still a big question mark.

Kedon Slovis is being praised as the likely top pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and rightfully so.

The Arizona native flashed his brilliance in his first start and hasn’t looked back. Those wondering why JT Daniels and Jack Sears decided to transfer, look no further than the emergence of Slovis.
A luxurious supporting cast of receivers includes the likes of Amon-Ra St. Brown, Tyler Vaughns, and Drake London. If Bru McCoy ends up contributing like many people in La La Land are expecting, we could be looking at one of the most versatile offenses in the nation.
Touching base with the other side of the ball, Coach Helton will need to shore up a defensive unit that allowed over 415 yards per game. If so, USC could be in the driver’s seat to capture a Pac-12 title.
Arizona State vs. USC Pick
There’s no doubt that the Trojans have a lot of potential in 2020. However, 11 points seem like a lot to cough up to a dynamic Sun Devils squad. My Arizona State vs. USC prediction is that Southern Cal heads to Tucson next week sitting pretty at 1-0, but my betting pick is that ASU covers the 11-point spread on Saturday.
Jayden Daniels has enough in his arsenal to make sure this game doesn’t get out of hand.
