Aqueduct Racetrack Picks – Friday, March 5, 2021

Aqueduct Racetrack has an eight-race schedule on the books for our Friday wagering, giving us the full range of regular thoroughbred racing, including maiden, starter, allowance, and of course, the bread-and-butter claiming races.
Remember that while I review those three races here, you can find Aqueduct’s entire eight-race card for Friday — including horses, jockeys, trainers, morning line odds, and wagering options — at one of our best horse racing betting sites.
Read on for my Aqueduct Racetrack picks and betting tips for Friday, March 5, 2021.
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 1
This is a maiden special weight race for New York-foaled three-year-olds running a distance of 1-1/8 miles for a purse of $70,000.
I’m with the morning line on this race — my money’s on the 4/5 favorite, Full Moon Fever, ridden by Michael J. Luzzi. This colt moneyed three of his four career starts, establishing some very good speed figures for himself. He’s also performed better than the rest of this field in recent workouts.
- Win: Full Moon Forever 4/5
Pick for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 3
This is a claiming race for three-year-olds and upward running a distance of six furlongs for a purse of $43,000.
I like the first half of the coupled entry in this race — the second-favored (3/1) Promo Code, with Benjamin Hernandez in the irons. This five-year-old moneyed four of his nine career starts, winning two.
And as far as value show wagers are concerned, I don’t see any of the longer-odds entries (8/1 and longer) finishing anywhere near the money, so let’s save ours.
- Win: Promo Code 3/1
Picks for Aqueduct Racetrack Race 7
This is an allowance optional claiming race for fillies and mares three years old and upward running a distance of one mile for a purse of $84,000.
I have to agree with the morning line here and bet my money on the 2/1 favorite — Timely Tradition, with Dylan Davis aboard. This seven-year-old mare finished in the money 22 of her 33 career starts, winning 11, which gives her a record at least one magnitude better than any of her competitors in this field.
At 12/1 (the longest morning line odds in this race), I like Violent Trick, ridden by Romero Ramsay Maragh, for a value show wager here. This five-year-old mare moneyed nine of her 17 career starts, winning five.
- Win: Timely Tradition 2/1
- Show: Violent Trick 12/1
